HEADS UP! When I write for this particular character, I use the names Wanderer and Scaramouche/Scara interchangeably. I technically mean Wanderer, but calling him Wanderer all the time just feels sorta strange to me? So yes I usually called him Scara. That's it- happy reading!

Your head spun. Your ears rang. Your limbs felt cold. Your heart was racing a mile a minute.
You lay on the floor of your own home, covered in your own blood. It was dark and slippery; even if you had the strength, you doubted you'd be able to get up. Every moment you spent on the floor, you became more and more tired, but you knew you couldn't sleep yet. Not until you'd seen him one last time.
Jingle jingle. The sound of a certain someone's hat being removed from their head. The door creaked open, then quick footsteps entered the house. "Hi, Sunshine! I'm home!" Scara's familiar voice called. You opened your mouth to reply but instead felt the tang of blood. Coughing, you spat out the metallic taste. "Sunshine..?" The voice became more guarded. Slow, careful steps increased in volume. Then there was a gasp of horror.
"TRAVELER!?" The footsteps became frantic and fast-approaching. Someone took hold of your shoulders. "Traveler! Sunshine- wait, please! A- Are you okay? Oh, fuck that, of course you aren't! Forget it, just hold on for me, okay? You can do this, I know you can." Tears were already gathering in Scara's eyes. He lifted your torso in his arms, trying to find the source of the bleeding. "Nahida! Nahida, help! Please, help!" He was calling for someone to help you. "Hi, love... listen, I.."
Your hand froze on the way to his face, then slowly began to fall again. He caught it in his own, squeezing it tightly. "No- no, wait! Keep talking, please! What were you going to say..? Dammit, Nahida, answer me!" He cried again.
"I.. don't remember what I was saying. But I know that I.. love.. you." You smiled weakly. "And I know that you're the strongest person in the world." With effort, you managed to move the rest of the way to hold Scara's cheek. "I'm getting blood on you. Sorry." You whispered hoarsely. He shook his head. "Don't worry about that. Just keep your eyes open." He took your hand off his face and held it like a lifeline. "There- there it is! Okay, Sunshine, I need to put pressure on that. I'm so sorry- it's probably going to hurt. Be strong for me, okay?"
You nodded, then gasped as white hot pain shot through your body. "Oh- Archons, oh- ow ow ow ow ow. Oh gods, that hurts, I.." The initial searing pain lessened a bit as you got used to it, leaving behind dull aches of fire, like magma below the surface.
"Nahida! Nahida, I'm begging you, we need help!" Please..!" Scara sobbed. "Hey.. don't cry. I'm sure you'll be alright. You're the strongest person I know, after all." You forced the corners of your lips upwards. You partner pressed his forehead to yours for a moment. "I don't care about me right now- I need you to stay awake for me until Nahida gets here. Stay. Awake! Eyes. Open! Got it?" You nodded.
"Hey.. do you remember how we met?"
You reminisced suddenly. "What? I mean, yeah. Yeah, I do. We were in the Grand Bazaar. You just kept trailing me, Paimon in tow, asking who I was. It was a little strange, I will admit." He reflected. "But cute, more than anything." You half-smiled. "Heh. Well, I was thinking.. if someone comes up to you one day and does what I did? If they seem well-intentioned and genuine- don't shut them out. They want to get to know you. Get to know what makes you happy. Okay?" You forced your eyes to stay open just a little longer.
"Don't worry about me. I won't worry about you. I know you.. you're tough." Understanding what you meant, Scara began shaking his head furiously.
"No-! No, you can't say that. You can't seriously be acting like you're not going to make it, because you are. So hold yourself together until Nahida gets here." You didn't miss the tremor in his words despite your haziness. The tears in his eyes were still flowing at full force. "I swear by all that is good in this world that you're going to make it through this alive. Got it? So don't you fucking dare close your eyes."
