So Broken You're Not

Heyo, human beings from outer space!

Guys it's that time of year again. You know that time. The time where I get kidnapped by trandoshans! They came early and super mean this year lemme tell you, they've been forcing me to write other things that are not star wars and chase rabbits everywhere. Lots of rabbits. Actually the same rabbit a lot of times. Four times. Just today. I was ready to turn her into a rotisserie.

Anyway I apologize for not writing anything for so long, I promise I've been trying, but I've been crazy busy and I have so many writing projects going on. AND I'm going to camp in like twelve hours so I'll be dopping off the face of the planet.

Enough said, this fic is super short and angsty and fluffy but I made it just for u :)

Read on if you dare.

It was almost funny, how fragile life was. One wrong moment and life is ripped away. How such a funny little organ kept everything working, and how that funny little organ could be shut off in mere seconds. One wrong turn on a speeder. One wrong shot on the battlefield. One wrong step on a flight of nasty stairs.

Almost funny. But definitely laughable.

Which is how Kix found Ahsoka waking up after nearly dying yet again: laughing. A raspy, low laugh bubbling weakly from her chest. He shot her a look she couldn't quite read through her bleary eyes.

"Maybe I gave you too many painkillers," Kix said, fumbling through his med kit, probably in search of said medical drugs.

"Power's an illusion we fight over, I could die from holding my breath, and at any moment a big rock could wipe us all out and end all the problems of the galaxy."

"Commander Tano, you are very high right now."

"I'm not high, Kix," Ahsoka sighed, pushing herself up despite Kix's attempts to keep her down. She looked around. The battle was over, evidently, which was a great improvement to how it was before she'd been thrown force-knows-how-many-meters by an explosion. "Just tired."

More like broken, but she would never say that aloud. But she was broken. Ahsoka Tano was so broken that she didn't even feel broken anymore, and she laughed again.

The galaxy was in shambles. War had torn every world apart. But she was alive and Kix was alive and Rex was alive and Anakin and Obi-Wan and Padmé were alive.

"Dance with me, Kix?" Ahsoka said suddenly.

"Commander, you're—"

"Please, Kix," Ahsoka whispered, testing her feet and stretching an arm out to Kix. "Please."

Kix hesitated only for one more minute before he took her hand and stood. And together, on a blood soaked battlefield, they danced. Some other men came over to see what they were doing (it was neither pretty nor coordinated) and joined in.

So maybe their lives were in danger of being ripped away at any moment, maybe the galaxy was in pieces at their feet, but they had the little things.

They had each other. And that was enough.
