Solana led the way to the front door, giving Simone an encouraging nod before ringing the bell. The door swung open, revealing a woman in her 50s, her face lighting up with joy at the sight of her daughter. "Simone, mi amor!" she exclaimed, pulling her daughter into a warm embrace.
"Mamá" Simone whispered, hugging her tightly. "Papá" she added, turning to her father, who stepped forward to hug her and kiss her on the top of her head.
"te hemos extrañado mucho" we've missed you so much
Lewis watched them he could see the deep bond between Simone and her parents, As Simone's father embraced her, Lewis could see the love and relief in his eyes. Simone’s mother noticed Lewis standing in the background their eyes met which made Lewis nervously smiled at her. "¿Y quién es este joven tan bueno?" And who is this young fine man? she asked, a hint of curiosity in her tone.
Lewis and Simone exchange look, he nodded and gave her a comforting smile "Podemos entrar primero? and can we please speak english?" can we go inside first?
The couple nodded their heads in agreement. "p-por supuesto! adelante" O-of course, come in her mother said, gesturing for them to enter. As they walked inside, her parents exchanged confused and curious glances, their eyes lingering on Lewis and Simone, who were now holding hands.
"No tengo idea tampoco estoy confundida" I-I don't have any idea, I'm also confused Solana said with a shrug when her aunt and uncle looked at her for an explanation. Simone felt her mother's gaze burning into her back as they made their way inside.
The two walked into a warm and inviting living room. The space was filled with cozy furniture, family photos, and various pieces of art that Simone had created over the years. The familiar scent of her mother's cooking lingered in the air, adding to the comforting atmosphere. Lewis squeezed Simone's hand as they walked inside. The piano in the living area caught his attention, and he glanced at Simone surprisingly.
"woah! do you play piano?" she nodded nervously Lewis noticed it and he squeezed her hand once again.
"Lewis...this is not the right time to talk or ask about it, i'm f*cking dying right now" she whispered, rolled her eyes, and took a deep breath trying to calm herself.
"relax" he whispered back and chuckled.
...
Lewis gulped as he glanced at Simone's father, who had been staring at him for five minutes. He gave the older man an awkward smile while nodding his head and quickly look away, the intense scrutiny made him feel increasingly uncomfortable. Just then, Simone's mother entered with a tray of tea and snacks.
"please, make yourselves comfortable" she said, setting the tray on the coffee table. "I made some of Simone's favorite cookies." Her voice was warm, and her eyes softened as she looked at her daughter.
Simone reached for a cookie, smiling at her mother. "thanks, Mamá" she took a bite, savoring the familiar taste.
The old woman sat across from them and held her husband's hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze. Her eyes flickered with curiosity and a touch of concern as she looked at Simone and then at Lewis. Simone took a deep breath and glanced at Lewis, who gave her a assuring nod.
"family" she began, her voice steady but tinged with nerves "t-this is Lewis Hamilton, my boyfriend." her lips shivers as she waited at her parents reaction.
There was a moment of silence, the kind that stretches uncomfortably, making every second feel like an eternity. Simone's father, his expression unreadable, kept his gaze fixed on Lewis, who shifted slightly in his seat her mother on the other hand, was visibly shocked her eyes widening as she processed the news.
