✦Sankaar✦
I stole a glance at my wife, her head resting peacefully on my shoulder, her face radiant with tranquility. She was a vision of beauty, inside and out. Then, thoughts of her father crept in—a stark contrast to her purity. The very idea of him was repulsive; how could such a pure and innocent soul be connected to such a man?
I couldn't help but think he must have bumped his head as a child, leading to his wicked thinking.
I still recall the words he directed at her. How could a father utter such things about his own daughter? People like him are better off fatherless than inflicting trauma on their children.
But I found solace in the fact that she confided in me about her father. Her growing comfort with me brought me immense joy.
When I shared that ghost story with her, I never imagined it would come true, all because of that jealous my firecracker. It seems my car can't handle having my wife alongside me. How jealous of a car she is!
My car ruined the whole date. Now I know firecracker is the biggest third wheel in my life. I had so many plans for us—we could have gone for dinner or a movie, but no, this car had to ruin everything.
The only good thing that happened was the peaceful conversation we had, lying under the open sky, talking about everything and nothing.
While this place itself poses no threat, the unsettling feeling of being watched persists. It was palpable throughout our conversation, and even now, as she sleeps, the sensation lingers.
Who and why would anyone be watching us in this isolated forest? The possibility of an attack looms over us.
Damn it! I should have brought my gun.
All of this is because of that Yashwant.
Why did he have to host that party so far from the city? He's probably busy planning his own honeymoon while I'm stuck here in the forest.
I'll make sure he never gets married. How could any girl marry him anyway? I'm sure he's just a puppet following her around.
I just want to curse him so badly.
Wait, don't curse in front of your wife. It's not good influence, Sanskaar.
And then there's this shitty network. All the problems hitting at once.
"Is it morning?" I turned to my shoulder and found her awake, her eyes still heavy with sleep, gently rubbing them with the back of her hand.
She looks utterly adorable.
"Hmm... it's almost 6," I replied, my gaze shifting to my watch as I noted the time. She slowly got up, delicately dusting off her saree with graceful movements. As she rose, I stretched my muscles, feeling the stiffness from lying on the ground.
"Don't tell me you were awake the whole night." Her gaze shifted to me, a brow arched inquisitively, strands of hair gently tucked behind her ear.
"You were, weren't you, Sanskaar?" Her voice carried a mix of amusement and mild accusation, the soft morning light casting a warm glow on her face.
Wow! She's figured it all out without any input from me. Well played, wife.
"I'm your personal security guard, Madam," I teased, trying to lighten the mood.
"Stop being cheeky," she chided with a playful smile, her eyes sparkling with affection.
"That's the truth. Have you ever seen a guard sleeping?"
