✿ Vaidehi✿
The woman, probably in her thirties, held my hand steady as she delicately applied the mehndi, asking, "Ma'am, what are the initials of your husband?"
"SVSS," I replied, a smile tugging at my lips. "Just make sure to keep it hidden."
She gave me a knowing look and continued working on my left hand, carefully weaving the initials into the intricate design.
Sanskaar Vaidehi Singh Suryavanshi—that's his full name, so I wanted the initials to be a secret only we could find.
She took her time, adding the finishing touches to the design, and when I finally looked down at my hands, I was amazed. The patterns were beautiful, with his initials perfectly concealed within the delicate swirls. I knew it would take him quite a while to find them, but that was part of the fun.
Satisfied with her work, I paid the artist and stepped out, careful not to smudge the fresh mehndi. My eyes scanned the area until they landed on him, leaning casually against the car, his attention fixed on something on his phone.
He's always on that phone.
"Huh!" I huffed, deliberately stomping my foot a little louder than necessary as I pouted at him. Hearing the sound, he looked up immediately, slipping his phone back into his pocket with a guilty smile. With a quick, playful shake of his head, he ran a hand through his hair, rolled up his sleeves, and opened the car door for me with a flourish.
His eyes met mine, filled with that familiar warmth that never failed to make my heart flutter.
Don't melt Vaidehi
"By any chance, are you angry, Devi ji?" he asked, sliding into his seat and leaning over to buckle my seatbelt before starting the car.
I folded my arms and pouted, pretending to be more upset than I really was. "Well, my book boyfriends wouldn't ignore me for a phone. They'd make me feel like the center of their universe, hanging on to my every word."
Sanskaar's smile grew softer, more thoughtful, as he held my gaze. His fingers gently caressed my face, tracing the delicate lines of my skin.
"Book boyfriends, huh?" he mused, his voice low and tender. "They might make you blush, maybe even steal your breath away with their perfect words and grand gestures. But tell me this, love—can those book boyfriends be as completely, utterly captivated by you as I am?"
He leaned in closer, his forehead almost touching mine, his eyes searching mine with a depth of emotion that made my heart skip a beat. "Can they get lost in your laughter, like I do? Do they find themselves staring at you, amazed by how effortlessly beautiful you are, even in the simplest moments?"
His hand moved to cup my cheek, his thumb brushing lightly over my skin, sending a warm shiver down my spine. "Can they feel their pulse quicken just by the way you look at them? Do they find themselves dreaming about you, even when you're right beside them? Because I do, Vaidehi."
His voice dropped to a husky whisper, his words wrapping around me like a warm embrace. "Can they be driven to madness by the mere thought of you, like I am? Can they feel your absence like a physical ache, a longing that never quite goes away, even when you're just a breath away?"
He paused, his eyes never leaving mine, as if trying to imprint every detail of my face into his memory. "Can they be completely undone by the smallest things you do—the way you scrunch your nose when you're thinking, the way you softly hum to yourself when you're happy? Can they be brought to their knees by the simple fact that you exist in their world?"
Sanskaar's hand slid down to my waist, pulling me closer until our bodies were almost touching. "Do they find themselves losing track of time just by being with you? Can they be so mesmerized by your voice, your touch, that everything else fades into the background? Because that's what you do to me, every single day."
