Alexa SinclairTom was out playing basketball with his friends, and i'm trying to pitch a business idea to my dad. It sounds a little stupid, but it's fine.
I think.
"Alexa, why would I want to buy a former pie shop?" My dad took his glasses off.
"Because, it'll mean a lot to Tom... and you could use a new investment. I'll spend the summer there, cleaning it up. I can work as one of your waitresses, and rope in a couple people from school. We can have it open when the new school year starts." I've been planning this out for a little while on my own.
"Plus it's in a good area, it's by the high school which means it'll be packed before and after everyone's out. I looked into the old records of the place, and it was booming before it went out of business." Google really can tell you a lot about a place. It's very useful.
"Then why did it go out of business?"
I sighed. "I'm assuming it's because his grandfather isn't around anymore."
"I'll make some calls, see if I got enough money tucked away."
I grinned, jumping out of my seat.
"You're the best, thank you!" I kissed his bald head, brushing away the mark.
"Alexa, one more thing." He held a finger up.
I sat down, giving him a look of confusion.
"You need to get that boy out of that gang."
I know.
"Daddy, that's not my business, nor my place." I clasped my hands together, dad took a sip of his coffee, thinking to himself.
"I had a warrant to search one of the clubs there, they have an underground lab, it's infested with drugs. All of it. The jail is overcrowding, which means some of the inmates are getting sent to prison. Look, I like Tom. But if he's ever in a situation like that, there's nothing I can do to save him. He's got a bright future ahead of him, but not if he keeps running with that gang."
An underground lab..?
"As in meth?" I whispered, in disbelief.
He nodded.
"And you think some of the gang's are managing it?" I added, trying to get the story straight.
"It's possible, we don't know yet." He shrugged.
I have to talk to Tom.

"Hey, what's up?" He picked up after the first ring, I picked at my fingers, unsure of how to address this with him.
"Are you running a meth lab?" I blurted, deciding it would be best to be blunt.
"I'm sorry?" Tom laughed over the line.
"The club on 22nd street by Louis's liquor, are you affiliated with it?" I asked, point blank.
"The one that's crawling with underaged sex workers? Who do you think i'm working for shorty?" He laughed again.
