"The man who says his wife can't take a joke, forgets that she took him."

Alexa SinclairI squeezed Tom's hand, as Dr. Blake had her hand in my um cervix.
"Okay, it seems like you're one centimeter dilated. Which means that our appointments are going to be closer together now until you're ready to go into labor." She lifted her head up, and took her gloves off.
My eyes widened. "Already?"
"It's normal to be dilated a couple weeks before giving birth, no worries. You're still on track for your due date." She smiled.
"And college, when can I go back to school?" I questioned. "Lex—" Tom began, before I shot a glare in his direction.
He knows how important school is to me.
"Well, healing wise you should be able to after the six week mark, but it's up to you."
Okay, that's not that bad.
I might be missing the first trimester, but i'll be there for the second.

I sat in the passenger seat, as Tom drove us back to my house.
"So, I wanted to um... tell you something, and I figured you can't yell at me when i'm driv—"
"What did you do?" I deadpanned.
He flinched, his shoulders tensing up.
"I'm not going back to school."
What does he mean he's not going back to school? He needs to graduate.
"Well, I told coach that I needed some time off and he didn't like that, he said I was mandatory for the team to succeed... so I gave him an ultimatum, and he didn't respond well to it."
I never asked him to do that.
"You need to go back and get on the team again, it's your future." I kept my voice calm and collected, even though I was feeling the exact opposite. I don't want to hold him back.
"My future is my daughter."
The street light turned red, the car slowly coming to a halt.
"You can do both." I interjected, unwilling to let him give up on his dreams.
"Lex, i'm not going back for the next semester." Tom finally said the words, and I blinked.
"You dropped out? One year in, and you dropped out?" I laugh, in complete disbelief.
"For you, why don't you get that?" He turned his head to look at me, I didn't respond at first, pointing to the cars that began moving.
"Because I never asked you to do that for me." I let go of his hand, I placed it in my lap.
"It's not like i'm going to be sitting around babe, i'm gonna work with your dad."
I had many options for college, many.
And I let them all go because I wanted to do school with him, so that he could see our baby, so that he could have a role in her life.
