INT. DESERT HOME – NIGHT
Cathy throws off her jacket and hurries into the house. Meets Matt in the kitchen. HE'S GOT A BLACK EYE.
MATT: What on earth were you doing?!
CATHY: Shit! What happened to your eye?!
He reaches to the top of the fridge and places his palm on something out of sight.
MATT: Long story, don't ask.
CATHY: There was a big accident, okay? I lost my phone -
A BEEP IS HEARD.
MATT: - why didn't you use the SatCom –
CATHY: - It's being repaired, remember?!
A HISSING SOUND AS AN AIRLOCK BREAKS.
MATT: – dad's been SO worried -
CATHY: - I know -
He grabs the fridge's door handle...
MATT: He tried to reach you – we're way past curfew –
...and THE ENTIRE FRIDGE SLIDES FORWARD...
MATT: - he's fuming!
...REVEALING AN ENTRANCE IN THE WALL BEHIND IT!
CATHY: I came as fast as I could, OK?!
A LONG ROW OF LIGHTS FLASH ON, one after the other, revealing a long tunnel, declining into the unknown.
Just a few meters into the tunnel, a transparent glass chamber blocks the way for anything but light.
They step into the tunnel.
The door closes behind them with a low thud.
On the wall hangs TWO GAS MASKS.
They routinely put them on.
Press a button on the wall, and the front glass in the chamber slides open.
Both step inside, and the door closes behind them.
THE CHAMBER FILLS WITH SMOKE, AND BOTH OF THEM DISAPPEAR.
FADE OUT.
