EXT. CAMPUS – FOOTBALL ARENA – AFTERNOON
The cheerleading team is well into its routines, next to a football team that's also training. Shouting and sweating.
Matt and two other guys are lifting and catching a girl.
GIRL: Let's do it one more time.
They lift her up, but as she is about to fall down in their arms, Matt catches a glimpse of another girl (MEGAN) doing a tumbling routine some yards to their side.
MEGAN
hits the edge of the track surface in the wrong way and veers off course, still going way too fast to stop safely.
MATT
gets a peek at the girl he's training with, freefalling toward him. The other two guys are gonna catch her.
He turns on his heels. Leaps forward a split second before MEGAN CRASHES INTO HIM, SENDING BOTH OF THEM ROLLING, before ending flat on the field, with her on top.
MATT and MEGAN: Aargh...!
Everyone stops, including the football guys. Everyone looks.
Some of the cheerleading girls run to the rescue.
GIRL: You guys OK?
OTHER GIRL: What happened?
Megan doesn't respond; just lies flat on Matt's chest.
MATT: You okay?
MEGAN (wakes up, looks at Matt): Ah... you saved me...
She and Matt are both pretty beaten.
MATT: Sure...
The rest of the cheerleading team comes over.
CHEERLEADING GUY: That's an awesome save, dude!
The girls help Megan get up, and the boys give Matt a hand.
