YOU WERE LOOKING around in awe, seeing people walking around and living their lives as if they weren't trapped in a scroll, "Whoa! Everything here looks pretty!" You thought in amusement, clenching your fists in front of your chest.
Mei wrapped her arm around your shoulders and pulled you closer, "Come on, Y/N. Let's take a picture for the memories." She enthusiastically said before holding her phone up for a selfie. You smiled and did the peace sign just as Mei snapped a picture, "Send it to me, okay?" You told her while pointing at her phone. Suddenly, the two of you saw a few guards gathering around Mk. You quickly went to him and grabbed him along with Mei, running as fast as possible. You even jumped on the roof to lose the guards until you made it to an empty alley.
"Thank you, Y/N. You saved us." Mk said as he hugged you and that made you blush a bit. You were about to reply, but...
"You made it in safely!" You all jumped when you heard Azure's voice behind you. When you looked at him, you saw that he was looking like a hologram, "Great! Mei, MK, and Y/N welcome to 7th Century Chang'an. I trust you've experienced astral projection before?" He asked you three with a proud smile.
"Yup!" Mk answered first.
"No. Is this what dying is like?" You and Mei asked with concern and panic.
"A little astral projection never hurt anyone. Listen, I don't have much time. Remember how I told you the scroll has a protective curse?" He started his explanation with a question. You and Mei nodded your head while Mk crossed his arms, "And that it'll try to find and destroy us. Uh-huh, yeah. Wasn't really gonna forget that part." He said, looking terrified. Azure seemed satisfied with what Mk said, "Good. Try not to draw too much attention to yourself. The curse will be drawn to any imperfections it detects within its stories. So, for starters, we need to do something about those." He stated and pointed at Mk's clothes that looked a lot modern for such an era. Mei's eyes sparkled in excitement, "New outfits?" She squealed happily.
"You betcha. I found some duds your size over in that trash pile." He said while pointing at the trash.
"Um... I think my uniform looks fitting." You pointed out, holding the hem of your skirt. Azure looked at you with a hum before nodded, "You're fine Y/N, no need to change them. Alright, Finding your friends won't be easy, but- Oh, come on!" Azure suddenly stopped when he saw Mk began to change, "At least let me turn around first!" He added just as Mei did a cannonball into the trash. You smiled while sweatdropping at your friends' behavior.
