Destined Since Birth (Caleb & Cassie)

Chapter 7: MORNING

You know it's still too early but you were awakened by someone breathing in your neck and arms on your waist. You opened your eyes and turned around to see a peaceful sleeping Caleb. He looks tired. His gripped tighten which made you move closer to him. Your face is almost touching his lips. You can hear your own heart beating so fast. I haven't been held by Caleb this close!

You tried to pull yourself away again but he didn't want to let go.

"Stay," he said as his eyes are closed. You wonder if he's dreaming. You didn't dare move and ou fell asleep again.

You didn't know how long you slept but looking outside, mataas na ang sikat ng araw. You tried to reach for your phone and found several missed calls from Cindy and your Dad.

You slowly took Caleb's arms off and gladly he rolled to the other side and you were able to get out of the bed. You put on your robe and went out of the room. You slowly closed the door and went straight to the kitchen to brew your favorite coffee.

You dialed your Dad's number first.

"Hi, Dad."

"Hi, Anak. Did you just woke up? It's almost noon. Don't you have work today?

"Ahh..eh I slept late last night.

"Did you meet Caleb?"

"Yeah."

"Did he spent the night there?"

"Yes."

"So pinuyat ka ba nya?"

"DAAAD!?!" ou can hear your Dad laughing on the other line.

"Okay! I won't ask anymore."

You were sipping coffee from your cup when Caleb went out of the room. He took the cup from your hand and sat at the bar stool facing you. You rolled your eyes and walked towards the verandah.

"Did you guys talked?"

"Not yet, Dad. Wewere both tired last night so we just went to bed."

"O ayan ka na naman sa sagot mo ah."

"I-I mean he just came home from wherever he came from at I was tired from work. Past midnight na ako nakauwi."

"Do you usually come home that late?"

"This past few days, yes. There's been extra work in the office because of the collaboration we're eyeing to close before the year ends."

"Okay, basta take care of yourself and don't skip meals."

"Yes, Dad."

"Is that Dad?" you didn't noticed Caleb followed you.

"Yeah, here talk to him." you passed the phone to him and went to the kitchen brew another cup of coffee. You don't know what Caleb wants in the morning kaya naglabas ka na lang loaf of bread at lahat ng palaman na nasa fridge para sya na lang mamili.

He returned your phone back and sat beside you.

"Is this what you usually eat for breakfast?" nagtataka nitong tanong. I forgot he's a chef.

"Yes, but I usually just have coffee if there's no time."

"You need to have a full meal during breakfast. It's the most important meal of the day. Does Papa and Dad know?"

You once again rolled your eyes at him. 

"I am old enough to decide on what I do with my life. They don't need to know everything."

You stood up and walked away this time with the cup of coffee in your hand to call Cindy.

"Hey, I've been calling you. You missed this morning's meeting. Everything okay?"

"Yeah. Sorry I was asleep when you called."

"What time did you go home last night?"

"Past midnight."

"Cassie, kung makauwi ka para kang walang asawa."

"As if naman may naghihintay sakin umuwi, eh wala naman."

You glance at Caleb who's also busy on his phone.

"Pauwiin mo na para may uuwian ka."

Andito na nga. You can't tell her yet kasi alam mong susunud-sunuring ka nya ng tanong.

"Are you still coming?"

"I don't think so. I don't have anything urgent naman. I finished reviewing and signing the documents last night."

"Take a rest. I'll see you on Monday."

"See you!"

You went back to the kitchen and didn't find Caleb. He's also not in the room. You noticed the note he left on your table.

Be right back - Caleb

You felt nervous and don't know why. He left again without telling me where he's going. But he sad he'll be back, right?

You felt a pang of pain on your chest. The same feeling you felt months back when he first walked away and left you. You tried to shake the feeling off. You went inside the bathroom and soak yourself in a long, warm bath.
