Chapter 34: WHERE IT ALL STARTED

CASSIE'S POV

We finished breakfast and headed to the boat. Before 8 in the morning, we are in the port and headed to the car. 30 more minutes passed when the car stopped in an airport and we headed towards a helicopter.

"Don't tell me this is yours, too?" I asked as we walked towards it. We were greeted by the pilot and Caleb gestured me to sit beside him. He's putting the headphones on when he answered.

"Should I also buy one?"

I laughed. Suddenly the helicopter slowly ascended and I can't help but admire the view below. The blue sea and and island we just spent a night on.

"Did you enjoyed our stay in the island?"

"Yes. I want to go back soon. I love the surrounding. Very close to nature, the sea and humming birds," I close my eyes as I bury the images and memories in my head.

"Are those the only things you love about the place?" he gently squeezed my thigh as he looks me in the eye. I instantly blushed. He pulled me closer and enveloped me in a hug.

"I'm really glad to spend time with you like this. We'll visit again, soon. Perhaps on our first anniversary?" he smiled at me. I can't wait to celebrate that with him! Who would've though we're almost a year married?

I nodded and he gave me a peck on my lips. We both enjoyed the ride and before we know it, we are landing on a unfamiliar place. As the helicopter descends, I noticed a lot of people, as if expecting us to arrive.

"We're here," Caleb said and gestured me to go out of the helicopter. He grabbed me by my waist and gestured me to the big house with lots of people waiting.

Who are they and how is Caleb related to them?

CALEB'S POV

Our next destination is where I learned almost everything I know in culinary.  I lived with them when I was still learning how to cook. These people were my mentors even before I studied abroad and I wanted them to meet Cass.

"Caleb!"

Lucy ran towards us and hugged me tightly as Fred came behind her offering a brief hug as well.

"I brought Cassandra. Honey, meet Lucy and Fred," Cass smiled at them and offered them a hand shake but instead she was also pulled in a hug.

"I'm so glad to finally meet you!" Lucy exclaimed, snatching Cass away from me and walked towards the house.

"She was so happy when she knew you'll come and bring Cassandra along," Fred said as he puts his arms on my shoulder and walked behind Cass and Lucy. I consider them both my second parents. My parents and I used to come here and they would leave me here whenever school's on break. They were the caretakers. I bought and gave it them as my gift for being my mentors. They expanded the land into a ranch and sometimes events place and with them catering.

I noticed more people outside the house and Lucy introducing Cass to each one of them. They seemed happy to see her, including Ashley's parents, Ben and Anna. Sally, Ashley's sister, who's only 15 years old, looked at Cass from head to toe but hides behind her mom. She noticed me from behind Fred and walked towards me.

"Didn't you bring Ash with you?" she said as she ran towards me.

"Hello to you, too, Sal. No, it's just me and my wife."

"Your...what?" she spoke so loudly, with her eyes wide open and she looked back at Cass. My wife is just smiling sweetly at her.

"Didn't your sister told you about Cassandra?"
