CALEB'S POV (cont.)
The next morning, Manang Linda woke me up. It's around 5:00 am. I noticed Cass on the other side of the bed now and soaking in sweat. Her temperature also dropped but still has a slight fever. Manang asked me to step outside first as she will need to change her clothes and sheets. I went to the balcony to make a quick phone call. Aron, who I hired as the new night shift manager gave me a quick report. I don't worry a lot when it comes to him handling things. I just need to make sure everything is in order as I won't be around much in Eclipse. I want to spend more time with Cass. As soon as I finished the call, Manang called me back to the room.
"I have to change the sheets. Can you carry her for a while?" Manang wasn't sure if I was up for it. Without thinking twice I lifted her carefully and settled in one of the chairs. She always weighs this light. Her cheeks are a bit more rosy, probably still due to fever. I can't help but stare at her and feel proud that I have a beautiful wife. Manang cleared her throat and I felt my cheeks flushed red.
"This may take time. Are you sure it's okay to carry her like that?"
"I'll bring her to my room so she can sleep better," I didn't wait for Manang to respond and headed to the door. She went ahead of me. I let Cass settle on the bed as I collect my things from her room. She's already tucked in as Manang leaves the room.
I thought of preparing something for her when she wakes up. I went downstairs and prepared a meal for her. I also prepared freshly squeezed juice and fruits so she can regain her strength faster. I went back to my room to make sure she's comfortable. I sat in the bed beside her. I traced her face with my finger and she moved a bit. Careful not to wake her, I planted a soft kiss on her forehead. That's when Manang Linda called out to me.
"Her bed is fixed and the room has been cleaned. Do you want to bring her back?"
"Let her stay here. I'm afraid we will wake her up if I carry her back."
"Is that okay with you?" Manang's brows raised.
"Why wouldn't it not be okay? She's my wife, she can sleep here anytime," with that I headed to the bathroom and started to shower before Manang sees me blushing.
She's still asleep when I left the bathroom. She only has a slight fever. I opened the curtains a little bit so the sun would peak. I was being careful not to let it touch her face so she won't be disturbed. I made sure she's still comfortable before heading downstairs when I heard a familiar voice.
"Where is Cassie, Manang? Is she awake?" Cindy, Cassie's best friend. She's already dressed for work at seven in the morning.
"She's sick and still sleeping," Manang answered but her back was against her. She's preparing breakfast as I sat at the table and started to read the newspaper when they both came from the kitchen.
"Oh, you're here," Cindy said. Her tone isn't very friendly.
"Of course, I live here. Why are you looking for Cass this early morning?" I asked as I sip my coffee.
"We have an important matter to discuss and it can't wait any longer," she sounded serious. I looked into her eyes and saw worry there.
"Let's go to the garden and talk," I headed first and she followed quietly.

"Cass is sick. She had a high fever last night and Dr. Smith said she's over fatigued. Is there something at work that makes her so stressed?" I asked as I sat down face to face with her best friend. She hesitated to answer.
"Look, I will not allow her to come back to work unless I get a clearance from our doctor. So you can either tell me what's going on or you can wait until she gets back to work."
