Leah's POV
I absent mindedly fiddled with the ring on my finger as I waited for Tess to come downstairs. For once in my life I'd actually gotten ready before her and was now waiting on her in the living room. We'd told Beth and Viv that we would come over earlier than everyone else to help out if anything was needed, hence why we were getting ready now in the early afternoon. Even if Beth refused our help, we both knew she needed it.
The last few months had been a literal dream that I didn't want to ever end. Ever since Tess and I had talked and figured our shit out, everything had gone back to normal. Sure we had fights every now and then, but we never went to bed angry at each other. We had finally found that piece of communication we had been missing.
And if I knew any better I'd say I was falling for her even more if that was possible. The love I have for her is infinite, I love everything about her. That's possibly why I'm sat here contemplating my plan for tonight.
"Alright," Tess came down the last couple of stairs." I'm ready. And don't you dare say anything about me taking longer than you." She gave me a pointed look, though a glint was present in her eye.
This tore my attention away from my nervous thoughts and place it on the one person who calmed my mind no matter what. I smiled as I took in her appearance. Always simple yet elegant, something I loved dearly about her. Tess never went for flashy outfits, she stuck to dark colors and suits for the most part. She was hot in anything really. Or nothing at all. "Right then, we should get going." I headed to the front door opening it for Tess as we headed to the car. Tess had offered to drive even though we lived maybe a mile from Beth and Viv. In her words 'I'd rather drive over and walk back.' It didn't make sense to me but I never argued.
"You know you guys didn't need to come over, I have everything under control!" Beth rolled her eyes as she opened the door.
"Don't be rude Beth!" Viv shouted from inside. "And don't lie, we could definitely use the help." This caused Beth's face to flush with embarrassment as Tess stifled a laugh behind me. I turned and smacked her lightly and she frown before holding her laughter in again. "We'll always help you Beth." I expressed as I gave her a hug before entering her and Viv's place. "Right Tess?"
"Right," she giggle before giving Beth a quick hug as well. She wandered off to Viv who was in the kitchen preparing food for the evening while I followed beth into the living room. She was trying to figure out how to connect the new karaoke machine to the tv, as she started explaining why it wasn't making sense I couldn't help as my gaze shifted to Tess and Viv who were working seamlessly in the kitchen. Speaking in dutch, a language that I could never understand. Tess' face was full of emotion, full of happiness and I thought she was glowing. She was gorgeous.
"Whipped." I turned to Beth who was staring at me with her arms crossed. "Now can you help me and stop drooling over your girlfriend." I blushed before giving Beth my full attention.
"Where's the instructions?"
"Uh.." Beth looked like she'd been caught. "I might've threw them away on accident."
"You've got to be kidding me."
After twenty minutes we finally figured it out and I turned the tv on to only play music for right now. I gave Beth meticulous instructions on how to get it working when we got drunk enough for karaoke.
Our teammates and friends started arriving soon after and by 8 o'clock the party was in full swing. Kiera had shown up and I couldn't be happier, we caught up for a while until Tess showed up. She had wrapped her arms around me from behind and my face turned red causing Keira to laugh at me. Tess began a conversation with Keira as I simply enjoyed her presence, feeling safe in her arms and enjoying the warmth she provided.
