"I can't come to the UK." Nikita said.
"Why not?" Armaan spoke, on speaker.
"I... Can this stay between this?"
"Yes. Tell."
"I wanted to move there for my work, but..."
"But?" Silence filled the air, "you can tell me Niki."
"Armaan I.... I'm separating an entire family. Ruyash Dada and Bhabhi are settled in UK and now they're moving back to Dubai just so I can work in the UK. I should be happy I got a husband who lets me work, I shouldn't ask more than that. I shouldn't push it..."
"Tu tension mat le. I will talk to Mayukh."
"Armaan... I... I don't want to work. Can you tell him that?"
"Don't be stupid Niki. You have patented work. How can you let this go?"
"I don't want to break families."
"Niki. You sleep. I will talk to Mayukh in the office tomorrow, okay?"
"But I—"
"Bola na, relax. Trust me, I won't do anything wrong to you and don't worry, I won't let our conversation get to Mayukh."
"Thank you Armaan." She said and cut the call. She sighed deeply she didn't want to break a family. She stared at her phone for a minute before switching it off and sitting quietly in the garden. Unknown to her, Mayukh had been watching her for a while, and heard this entire conversation.
Mayukh POV:
My heart fluttered around her. She's so selfless. This is why she gets used by her aunt and such horrendous people. I took it upon myself to be her shield. If she wants to be so selfless, then I'll be equally selfish so only those worth it can get a taste of her selflessness.
I noticed her sitting in the cold. Her duppata was being used as a shawl. Her hair was in a loose, almost breaking braid and was flowing free. She is beautiful. I walked next to her and sat on the swing near her. She looked at me, alert.
"Can't sleep?" I asked softly.
She shook her head.
"Hmm... want to go somewhere?"
"Where?" She asked, her eyes widening.
"Chal." I got up and took her hand. She was following me but she suddenly stopped.
"Mayukh..."
I lose control of myself whenever she takes my name, but I tried to focus and looked at her, "Yeah?"
"I'm not dressed." She said shyly.
"You're looking perfect, and I'm with you, no one is going to say or do anything. Come." I said and continued to walk to the car. I got the keys from the security and opened the door for her. She got in and put the duppata properly around her.I entered and we left the house. I was driving when she suddenly said, "Where are we going?"
"You'll see."
"Mayukh... tell. I don't like surprises."
"Oh really." I looked in her direction and used one hand to caress her face, "then start liking them Mrs Chaudary."
I saw her eyes widen and her cheeks turn red as she looked down. I chuckled.
It was a silent ride after that. Nikita was observing the beauty of the city. It's 2 days since the Durja Pooja and the city never sleeps at this time. It's still bright and celebratory. I watched her look around in awe.We finally halted. She got down and her eyes widened, "Is this..."
"Yep."
"Why are we here?" She said, coming closer.
"So that our circle of life is complete."
"What?" She asked.
I came closer to her and wrapped my arm around her, she didn't hesitate but looked at me in utter confusion. I slowly took out a small patch of sindoor and she followed my arm and her eyes widened as she saw it.
"Mayukh... what—"
"Shhh." I said, and looked her in the eye while I adorned the sindoor in the partition of her hair. Her eyes were wide and a few drops of tears were falling.Yes. I had brought her to the same path we were at where we had initially gotten married, out of force. I wanted our circle to be complete. I wanted her to go to every place without remembering her bad past. I want to replace every bad memories with my loved ones.
"Mayukh... why?"
"Because, when I did this two years ago, I didn't know fate is tying us together. Now I do. I did this to erase all bad memories you have in your heart."
She was in tears and I quietly hugged her, with her small arms resting on my chest. After a minute, she let go.
"Come. Let's see something." I said, and she nodded.
