A 24 year old man was walking down the street in Kolkata. He arrived at his ancestral home, a huge mansion located at the prime center of the city.
Inside, his mom, Asha Chaudary, and dad, Bishnoy Chaudary, were waiting for him for dinner.

"Mayukh where were you?" His mom asked.
"I just went for a walk. I was getting bored." Mayukh Chaudary replied.

Mayukh, the youngest child of the Chaudary family. He had joined his masters, which was to finish, the last semester, in Dubai and was going to leave in 4 days. His brother, Ruyash, was already working in Dubai at their family company. After completing his masters, Mayukh was going to work there as well.

"You need to start packing baba.... you're leaving in four days." Asha said.
"I will, I've started. Don't worry."

After dinner, he retreated to his room and slept.

15km away, a 23 year old lady was sitting awkwardly at her aunt and uncle's home. Nikita Joshi, a recent graduate who was moving to Dubai to complete her ongoing masters, unaware of the schemes being plotted by her aunt and uncle. Despite being a Marathi family, her aunt had married a bengali and now they're settled in Kolkata. Her aunt has requested her to spend a couple of days before she leaves. Being naive, she said yes as she understood it as an attempt to revive old bonds.

"Nikita...." her aunt said, walking in her room. "Are you set for Dubai?"
"Yes Masi." she replied softly.
"Listen, I wanted to ask you something. Your mom and I were talking and we thought it's best you get engaged before you go to Dubai."
Nikita was shocked, "E...engaged?" She asked horrified.
"It's not a big deal bachu, it's just a betrothal. The guy is a very settled and wealthy guy with a good family and background. They love you already and the guy is also a foreign return who will be settling back there soon."
"Yes but.... it's.... i'm not ready." Nikita tried to reason.
"Come on, you have your whole life to be ready. You just have to be engaged, not get married. It's  not an option. You need to be ready it's what's good for you and we're your elders, we know." Her aunt said sternly.
Nikita couldn't reply and her aunt stormed out of the room before she could say anything.

She sat in her room cursing her fate and started to pack for Dubai.
