A week later
The announcement of the UA Sports Festival sent ripples of excitement and nervous energy through the halls of UA. It was the perfect opportunity for students to showcase their skills and catch the attention of pro heroes and agencies. For most, it was a chance to shine. For me, it was a step closer to proving my worth and achieving my goals.
My classmates were abuzz with strategies and preparations. Izumi and Katsumi were deep in conversation, their determination palpable.
"We need to push ourselves," Izumi said, her eyes gleaming with resolve. "This is our chance to show everyone what we're capable of."
Katsumi nodded, her usual fiery spirit evident. "I'm going to blast through every obstacle. No one's going to stand in my way."
Shoto and Shiori were more reserved but equally focused. "We should consider our quirks' synergy," Shoto suggested calmly. "It could give us an edge."
Shiori agreed. "We need to be smart about this. The competition will be fierce."
Katsuki, ever the loud one, smirked. "I'm going to crush everyone. Don't get in my way."
I listened but remained detached, not engaging in the excitement. My strategy was clear: stay unnoticed, observe, and act with precision. On the day of the festival, I arrived in the middle of the gathering crowd, blending in to avoid drawing attention.
The stadium was a sea of students, parents, and pro heroes, all eagerly awaiting the spectacle. Midnight, the R-Rated Hero, stood at the center of the arena, her presence commanding attention.
"Welcome, students, to the UA Sports Festival!" she announced, her voice booming through the speakers. "This is your chance to show the world what you're made of!"
The audience's cheers were deafening, but I remained unfazed. I scanned the faces of my classmates, each displaying a mixture of determination and nerves. Izumi, Katsumi, Katsuki, Shoto, and Shiori stood together, their expressions serious and focused.
Midnight explained the first event—a massive obstacle course. I mentally prepared myself, analyzing the best strategies to navigate through the various challenges. I wasn't here to make friends or allies; I was here to win.
"Participants, get ready!" Midnight's voice echoed through the stadium.
I positioned myself strategically, avoiding the front row where the more eager competitors stood. Instead, I opted for the middle, where I could observe and adapt without being immediately targeted. The countdown began.
"Three... Two... One... Start!"
The signal blared, and the arena erupted into chaos as students surged forward. I moved swiftly but calmly, using my agility and reflexes to navigate through the initial throng. The first obstacle, a series of treacherous cliffs, loomed ahead. While others scrambled and stumbled, I analyzed the terrain, identifying the optimal path.
"Damn it, move!" Katsumi's voice cut through the noise as she blasted her way forward, clearing a path with her explosions.
Izumi was right behind her, using her quirk to create platforms and leap across gaps. "Keep moving, Katsumi! We can't slow down now!"
Katsuki, not to be outdone, shouted, "Outta my way, extras!" as he propelled himself forward with powerful blasts.
Shoto and Shiori were more methodical, using ice and fire to create a safe passage. "Don't get reckless, Shiori," Shoto cautioned. "Precision is key."
With precise movements, I leapt from cliff to cliff, my focus unbroken. The next obstacle was a field of giant robots, reminiscent of the entrance exams. While others engaged in direct combat, I chose a different approach, using their movements against them to create openings and slip through unscathed.
