After a while, Nick stopped pouting. What good would it do anyway? The concert was tomorrow and he didn't need any petty things worrying him. From now on, he vouched to stay calm and compliant until the concert was over. He looked over at Simon and gave him a forgiving smile. Simon gave him back a cheeky smirk. Being a star was tough. Especially when you had gained popularity as fast as they had. Some of the members can’t take the stress.
Adding a considerable amount of noise to the almost silent room, Andy shoved the door open and rushed in with a mellow-looking roadie. He was latched onto the roadie’s arm like a leech.
“This ones willing to get something for us.” He said while presenting the roadie. Andy released his grip on him and the roadie smiled warmly. His name was Jack. He had just joined the band when they arrived at Sydney airport. He served as their guide in Australia. He knew everything about Australia even though he wasn’t born there. He was actually born in Southampton, but he moved to Australia when he was 15. He also had connections to the Sydney opera house trust, so he was a valuable asset to the band and to the rest of the tour.
Most people, in the presence of a popular band, would be nervous or overly polite. Jack had been working with bands for so long that every band he met was just another talented group of people to him.
Simon rose from the couch and spoke.
“Alright mates, what do we want?”. The room stayed silent. Simon let out an over exaggerated sigh.
“Come on guys it-”
“Just pick something Simon, after all you're supposed to be in charge, right?” Nick said while rising from the couch, cutting Simon off. Nick grinned a bit more sinister than he did before.
“Yeah, whatever Simon says huh?” John said quietly while nudging Roger. Roger turned his face away to hide his smirk.
“Fine, we’ll get Italian,” Simon said quickly.
Nick squealed in excitement. He sat back down and curled up tightly, hugging his knees, satisfied with his manipulation. Simon had realised Nick was trying to patronise him so he thought if he picked something Nick liked then he would lose the attitude. Little did he know, that was Nick’s goal. Simon shot Nick a look. He started talking while pacing.
“I know what you want Nick,” Simon said. Nick nodded slightly.
“What do the rest of you lot want?” Silence again. Simon picked up a little decorative kangaroo from the windowsill and kept pacing. Jack walked to the table behind them and grabbed the complementary pencil and notepad that was on the floor. The ones that they sometimes give with rental houses.
Roger wasn’t in the mood for Italian but he was too hungry to debate for something else. What he really wanted was some nice, warm rice pudding, and a lot of it. Simon didn't want Italian either but he thought something was better than nothing. He knew Nick would be happy with Italian. Nick loves pasta, maybe a little bit too much. A couple years ago, before they were really popular, they went to this restaurant that specialises in pasta dishes just for Nick.
John wasn’t really picky, but his overall favourite was chinese. Although he really didn't like fish. All Andy ever ate, if he did eat anything at all, was sugar. He especially liked cake.
John was still glued to the TV. The most recent puzzle was ‘Training my dog to play fetch’. John had figured out the puzzle before any of the contestants did. He was very proud of himself. Bloody idiots, he thought. John reached over towards Nick, grabbed the remote from beside him, and turned the TV off to speak. He put his arm on the couch.
“We should just send…” He paused for a beat.
“What did you say your name was?” John asked.
