When the World Listens - Duran Duran

Chapter 2, Part 4 - Preparing for Fine Dining

“Can I get some help here?” Jack asked. Nick, carefully but quickly, sat his keyboard on the table then jumped up and rushed to help him. So did Andy. He had this goofy grin on his face. So did Nick. Roger took the initiative to tidy up the table and Simon cleaned up the cards. He put them back in his pocket. Nick, Andy, and Jack set the bags of food on the counter adjacent to the table. Andy was still holding his Vogue magazine. Nick strolled over to John. He gave him a light tap and John woke up immediately. He was a light sleeper. He sat up for a short time before falling backwards onto the couch. Jack walked over to Simon and offered him a couple of pounds.
“Here’s what’s left,” Jack said. “Sorry it’s not much, damn place was expensive.” Simon happily took the money. He looked around, scanning the table for his wallet. Roger noticed him looking and handed him the wallet.
Simon snatched the wallet from Roger. He then put the leftover money in his wallet. He chucked the wallet over to the table beside the couch. It landed on Nick’s keyboard. Nick paid no attention. He was too busy sitting at the table staring at the colourful wall, waiting for someone (Roger) to give him his food. Jack started to leave without saying anything. Nobody noticed him going, except Nick who gave him a little wave. Jack waved back then silently made his way out of the room with the rest of the food. Simon strolled over to John with a mission. He grabbed him by the arm and led him to the table. John landed in the seat with a thump. As everyone sat down, Roger laid the containers of food in front of them. He put the wine and the Caprese salad in the middle. He then travelled to the kitchen to get some tableware, taking the half loaf of bread and banana peels with him.
“We should wait for Roger,” Nick suggested. Andy agreed. He placed his magazine on the table. The waiting game commences.
