They might have sat in silence for at least 20 more minutes, but someone else came into the room. It was none other than Mr. Jack Daniel, the roadie who had joined the band staff as their guide to Australia. As soon as he walked in, he stopped dead in his tracks. When he came in all he saw was 4 deranged band members staring at each other like they had 15 heads each and 1 band member cowering behind the TV sobbing his eyes out. He knew the band would act a tad weird because, after all, it is a concert day, but this was definitely not what he expected.
“Is Andy ok?” Jack asked after assessing the situation. That only made Nick cry harder. Nobody even reacted to his presence in the room. All eyes were locked on other eyes.
“John?”
No response
“Roger?”
No response
“Simon?”
No response
“Nick?”
The only one who was doing anything at all was Nick. For some reason he was the only one who had processed exactly what was going on. He was terrified. But he managed to squeeze some words out.
“Can’t you see, Jack?” He spit out through sobs.
“What happened?” Jack yelled, letting all his panic out in a burst. He was now certain that they would have to cancel the concert. Whatever happened seemed bad enough. Their managers already had to cancel way too many concerts during this tour.
Suddenly, Nick stopped crying, for he had run out of tears. He only began to stare at his own body, who was staring at John’s body. John’s body was staring at Andy’s body. Simon’s and Roger’s bodies were staring at each other. Everyone was frozen. Even Jack. He didn’t know what to do. As far as he knew, some terrible event had transpired, but he didn’t know what. Finally, someone broke the silence. Of course it had to be Simon.
“This is so weird,” he said with absolutely no emotion to his smirking face. Maybe he thought it was a dream. Or something that he thought up that seemed real. That couldn’t be farther from the truth. Simon blinked for what felt like the first time in a while. He approached his own body and caressed its arm lightly. Roger jumped back and let out a yelp. Simon let out a half-crazy cackle. Hearing his own voice come from his own body in such a way he didn’t think possible, Roger started to hyperventilate. His eyes felt shaky and he felt that he could see no more. Jack, with much caution, came up behind Roger and placed his hand on Simon’s shoulder. Simon’s shoulder. That’s weird. How come he can feel Jack’s hand on a shoulder that isn’t his?
