He walked over to Nick and put his hand on his shoulder.
Leaning up close to his ear, Roger said, “Nick?”
“Hmmm?” Nick acknowledged.
“Would you like me to put this in the fridge for you?” Roger asked while picking up Nick’s plate.
“Yes, thank you,” Nick said quickly as he leapt up from his chair and sped to the couch. He sat down gracefully and, once again, curled up into a little keyboardist ball. Roger paid no mind. He continued picking up the rest of the tableware and brought it to the kitchen. While Roger was cleaning up, John and Simon went to their respective, individual bathrooms. Andy stayed at the table, continuing to look at the Vogue magazine he had picked up before dinner. Some of the outfits in the magazine are a little too out there for Andy, and he wouldn’t neglect to make fun of them.
Soon enough, John came back from the bathroom and sat right next to Nick on the couch. Nick looked over at him, and when their eyes met, John said playfully, “How’s it going, old boy?”
“Well John,” Nick started with a sigh. “We have a concert tomorrow, Simon’s being an arse, Roger’s being all motherly, and frankly, I wanna go home,” Nick replied. John shifted closer to Nick.
“Honestly, I wanna go home too, but you know full well that once tomorrow comes, Simon will mellow a little. You’re the only person in this band who hasn’t taken a nap today, and I think it’s affecting you. You should get some rest,” John whispered.
“I don’t think that would do any good if I would even be able to sleep. I have a lot on my mind right now.” Nick succumbed to his thoughts.
“Wouldn’t it be great to be Andy? He seems so calm and… content, like he actually wants to be here. And he gets to move around the stage during concerts,” he continued.
“Personally, I would rather be you,” John said. “I mean, how cool is playing the keyboard? Maybe I should have learned the piano instead…” Nick smiled at John, which John reciprocated.
“I would wanna be you, John,” Andy blurted out. John whipped his head around to discover that Andy, who was still reading his Vogue, was deliberately turned away from them, pretending that he had not spoken.
“And why is that?” John asked, interested.
“Cause you’re tall, man! I’d give anything to be that tall,” Andy said while closing the magazine and spinning in his chair to finally face the bassist. At that moment, Roger strolled into the living room.
“Froggy!” Andy called out while crossing his legs and slapping the magazine onto the table. Roger stopped walking towards the couch and flicked his head over at Andy, noticing the empty wine bottle still on the table.
“What?” Roger answers.
“Who would you be in the band if you couldn’t be yourself?”
“I am NOT answering that question,” Roger said forcefully. Andy rolled his eyes.
“Spoilsport,” he whispered while he opened the magazine back up. Roger changed his direction and walked over to the table. He put his hands on his hips. He grabbed the empty wine bottle from the table and brought it over to the couch. Not knowing what to do with it, he presented it to Nick and John without saying anything and placed it on the coffee table in front of them.
“Souvenir?” Roger offered. While Roger’s joke made John laugh, it only made Nick smirk slightly, as the sinking feeling in his soul grew louder.
