Chapter 13

(Skyler's POV)

I sat there in Cameron's arms. His body radiated heat onto mine, making me feel a little more safe. When the doctor told me I had heart cancer it was as If the world stopped moving and everything crashed down on me. Right now I'm sobbing in Cameron's arms....thinking......thinking about my life and how drastic it will change. Cam pulled away from the hug and looked at me. I looked into his wet, puffy red eyes .

"Cam. I know I don't say it much but, I love you."

He smiled a bit and then answered.

"I-I love you too sis." He said with his voice cracking.

There was a knock at the door. Then a couple seconds later the doctor walked in.

"How are you doing Skylar?" he said with a smile.

"Fine." I said plainly.

The doctor pulled up a chair in front of my bed and began to talk to me and Cam.

"As you know cancer is a very serious illness and spreads throughout the body quickly. Now, Skylar's is located in her heart a rare form of cancer especially for someone her age. Since the overproducing cells are located in her heart it is spreading much faster than a regular form of cancer. I would highly suggest chemo therapy. Now I'll give you some time to think it over. I know this a lot to take in."

With that he got up and walked out the door.

I looked over to Cam who was looking at me tears filled his eyes.

"So are we going to do chemo therapy." he asked me.

I looked down at my fingers. I couldn't stand the sight of him crying. It was too much.

"I think it's for the best." I responded.

Another knock hit the door. This time the doctor didn't walk in. It was Shawn and Spencer. I can tell they were crying by their puffy eyes. They walked over to me and pulled me into a tight hug. Then they both let go at the same time. Then Shawn looked at Cameron and said,

"I called the other guys and explained what was going on. They had to end the meet and greet early so they're on their way now."

Cameron just nodded in response.

"Where's Nash?" He asked soon after.

"He went to go get everyone some coffee." Spencer responded before Shawn could.

"I'm gonna go talk to the doctor. Be right back." Cam said to me.

I just nodded as he exited the room. An awkward silence filled the air.

Nash walked in breaking the silence,

"Who wants coffee and donuts!" He said trying to lighten the mood.

I raised my hand like a little kid and said,

"Me! Me! Me!"

Nash, Spencer, and Shawn chuckled as I grabbed a French vanilla cappuccino and a donut with strawberry frosting and rainbow sprinkles.

As we ate our donuts Cam walked in.

"Guess who gets to go home!" He yelled excitedly.

"I'm allowed to leave!" I said happy and suprised.

"Yeah but we have to start chemo therapy in a couple days."

I nodded and then said,

"I'm going to change first."

"Ok.". He said.

I got up and grabbed my clothes that I wore that day and went to the bathroom to change.

When I finished I walked out of the bathroom to see the rest of the guys had arrived. They all ran up to me and gave me a tight squeeze. After that I grabbed my bag and we checked out of the hospital.
As we walked towards the car Cameron caught up to me and said,

"When we get to the hotel can we talk. Just you and me."

I nodded.
