Connection - a relationship in which a person, thing, or idea is linked or associated with something else.
She can't deny it. Even if she tried, it always go back to the connection they had the first time they ever laid eyes on each other. It was something they never had experienced with anyone else. At first, Azzi thought it was because they shared the same passion and love for basketball that's why they had this connection between them but after the years had passed, she realized it was because Paige shared the same understanding that what they have was something special. They were bound by such a deep connection, despite everything around them. It's like a secret, that only the two of them know.
After they met Paige at her car, the three of them drove back to the apartment in silence. Neither Azzi or Paige spoke a single word to each other and Caroline watched in amusement from the backseat as the two best friends keep glancing back at each other whenever one of them was not looking.
Rolling her eyes at the obvious stubbornness of her two friends, she propped herself in the middle of their seat, startling both of them. "Are you gonna talk or you're just gonna keep sneaking glances on each other?"
Both of them glared at her as they continued to ignore each other. Before Paige could speak Azzi's phone ring on her back pocket. The dark-skinned girl answered her phone desperately trying to avoid speaking to her blonde friend.
"Hey mom." She greeted the caller on the other line. The two listened in on the conversation as Paige makes a quick turn to the direction of their apartment. "Yeah, I'm with her and Caroline. We're heading back to the apartment." She paused as she listened to the other line while Paige looked over at her curiously. "I know. I'm gonna sleep once I'm done packing...."
She looked over at her blonde friend. "What? No! She's driving mom. She can't talk on the phone.""Put it on speaker." Paige told her with a raised eyebrow as Azzi rolled her eyes putting the call into speaker. Her mother's voice could be heard on the other line. "Hey Katie."
"Paige! Just want to check in with you. You're mom called me earlier she said she weren't able to reach you but she just wanted to check if you're all set for tomorrow?"
"Yeah, I'm all good. Everything is packed and ready." She look over at Azzi before adding, "I'll help Azzi to finish packing up tonight so she won't have to stay up too late."
"Thanks kiddo! You know how stubborn she is when it comes to asking for help. Anyways, I'll talk to you guys tomorrow."
Paige smirked looking back on the road. "I know. She's been really stubborn lately. Tell Tim and the two boys I said hi. See you guys soon."
Azzi rolled her eyes. "Bye mom."
"Bye baby, love you."
"Love you too." She said before ending the call. Paige, still smirking as she pulled out on the parking lot in front of their apartment building. She watched as Azzi took off her seat belt silently avoiding her eyes.
"I'll see you guys tomorrow. Good night." Carol said giving both of them a knowing look before she hoped out of the car. They watched in silence as Caroline waved at them before entering the building.
After a few minutes of silence, Azzi turned to her blonde friend and was surprised to find her staring. She blushed after meeting her deep blue eyes and thankfully it was a little bit dark outside so Paige wouldn't have noticed it. She looked away quickly bitting her lip, a habit she always does when she's nervous. Feeling her heart flutter as the thought of them alone in the car made it hard for her to concentrate.
