Insecurity - a feeling of inadequacy, fear of not being good enough and uncertainty.
If there was one thing that Paige Bueckers doesn't let other people know about herself is that she share a fair amount of insecurities growing up. Others are so used to see her as someone who radiates confidence and it shows on the way she carries herself. When she talks, people are drawn to listen to her. She had this ability to make one person feel good about themselves and it's one of the things that makes her so popular among her peers. On the court, she's the type of player who makes her team feel secured and confident about their abilities. She set realistic expectations and goals to her teammates and she communicates assertively when it comes to her game. Paige is the type of a leader who knows her strengths and weaknesses well and have a positive view of herself. Even after she suffered an injury that caused her to miss out a lot of gameplay her sophomore year, she still managed to make her impact on her team. Nothing can stop her from doing what she loves the most no matter what the circumstances are. From the sidelines she cheered, motivated and encouraged her teammates and helped them win. Everyone was in awe at how she radiates so much passion and determination even after everything she had been through but no one else seen what it's like when she's alone away from the prying eyes. No one saw the tears and sweat she had poured just to get where she was now other than her best friend. Azzi was the only person who can truly see right past her big smiles and determined words that she always carries around with her. Of course her other teammates saw her cry, was there for her when she's going through it but none of them knew how terrifying it was for her. And then there's Azzi. She was always the first person to stay and the last person to leave. She was the only one who knew what it was like to have something like tearing your ACL and the fear that comes after not knowing when or if you can go back to playing the sport you love so much. She was the only person who witnessed her lost her confidence and struggled to gain it back but never once did she saw any judgment or lack of trust from the younger girl even when she herself had doubts about herself. It was Azzi who made it easier for her to go through all those days that she thought she couldn't, just like how she was when Azzi was going through the same thing when they were younger. Just like a puzzle piece, they feel whole when they're together, only the other one can make them feel complete.
"Hey Az, are you done?" Paige asked by the bed, scrolling through her phone. She was waiting for Azzi to finish getting dressed before they both head out to Ted's and to meet up with the other girls. It was Friday which means that they don't have any classes or practice tomorrow so the gang decided to spend the night at the local bar. She was wearing a white T-shirt and her favorite pair of black pants while her hair was straightened and down. She was excited to finally spend the evening with Azzi since they had been busy for the past few days with classes and homework so she was really looking forward for this little night out with her. Distracted with her phone, she didn't notice Azzi standing at the foot of her bed.
"Is this okay? I can't find any tops that fits. I need to do my laundry tomorrow all of my clothes are gone."
Looking up, her mouth went dry at the sight of her best friend. She knew that Azzi always looked pretty but damn, with the tiny neon green crop top she was wearing that makes her skin glow with her new tan and the pants hugging her curves like a glove, she looks fucking hot. Without saying anything, Paige stood up and walked over to her side. Hooking her fingers to her pockets, she pulled her closer. She inhaled appreciatively, letting her favorite scent engulf her senses. "You know it should be illegal to be this hot."
Azzi smirked, letting her hands rest on the blonde's waist. "So I take it you like the fit?"
"Hmm, I like it, a lot." Leaning her forehead she smiled down at her as her lips grazed the younger girls soft lips. "We can skip tonight if you want." Closing the gap, her lips landed on Azzi's cheeks as she turned away laughing and she groaned disapprovingly.
