Denial - refusing to admit the truth or reality of something unpleasant. A denial is a refusal, and often means a refusal to believe or accept something as the truth. To be 'in denial' is to be fooling yourself about the reality of your situation.
One thing about Azzi is that she can remain composed no matter the situation is. In the court, she's the type of player who is always collected and doesn't let her emotions affect her game. People around her would say that she has this effect that put you at ease and it's one of the reasons why so many people wants to be around her. Growing up she was the kind of person who will always be there for her friends. Her kind and caring personality was also the main reason why she became so popular among her peers. They admire her on and off the court as someone who is very good at both her classes and basketball. She was one of the top students in her class as well as the top player in her team that's why many people find her attractive to say the least. Through out her high school she only had one relationship with a guy from her class. They dated for a span of three weeks before she call it off when she realized he didn't want her to spend more time with Paige than him. At first she find it funny because she and Paige were best friends and everyone knows they're pretty close. She didn't understand why he was so jealous over her best friend. Last year on her sophomore year in college, she dated Alex Karaban, number 11 point guard from their men's basket ball team and just like before, she broke up with him because he doesn't like how close she was with Paige. Although their relationship ended a few months ago he was still trying to get back together with her. Paige didn't know the real reason for their break up and Azzi didn't want to talk about it every time she brings it up.
Alex was a great guy, Azzi really enjoyed his company when they were together. He was funny and he was very good at making her laugh. They shared 2 classes together that's why they immediately became friends. Whenever she needed someone to talk to he was always there to listen. They were friends at first but he would always hint on her that he likes her. She thought he was joking but after competing a 3 point game together on the opening night of college basketball last year he had asked her out in front of everyone. Unfortunately, Azzi really didn't feel the same way about him she only likes him as her friend, she only said yes because she didn't want to hurt and embarrass him in front of everybody. And just like her past relationship, it didn't work out.
"Hey." Alex greeted her making her look away from the blue eyed blonde girl from the other side of the room.
Azzi gave him a forced smile, "Hi Alex." she was not in the mood to deal with him right now. A lot of thoughts were running through her head regarding a specific 6 foot tall girl that is currently on the opposite end of the room from them. "What's up?"
Oblivious to her annoyance, Alex sat down beside her smiling brightly as he looked her up and down. "You look like you needed some company."
Looking away from him she looked back over to where Paige was sitting but find the chair empty. "I guess."
