Safety - The state of being safe, freedom from the occurrence of risk of injury, danger, or loss. The quality of averting or not causing injury, danger, or loss.
They say time is the ultimate truth teller, a phrase many people use to describe their own experiences. Whoever is interested in learning the truth can find out even after time has passed - it could be many, many years after - but to the one seeking the truth, it could be today, or tomorrow that they will eventually find the answers to their questions.
When she was little, Azzi Fudd was a very shy kid. She likes to keep quiet and observe instead of making small talk with other kids. Her mom used to say she was too mature for her age and she doesn't understand what her mom meant by that until she was in high school.
When she turned 17, almost a year after she tore her ACL, she quickly learned that her best friend was very protective and a little possessive. She knew from the start that Paige likes to take control of some things and is very competitive. One time, when they're on a FaceTime call, and despite the time difference between them they still find the time to talk to each other (which Paige insists that it was fine that she stays up late even if she have classes the next day), Azzi mentioned to her how one of her friends volunteered to stay with her and her family so she can help Azzi while dealing with her torn ACL. It was the first time she saw how Paige tried to hide her jealousy towards the fact that her other friend were going to take care of her. At first nothing seems out of the ordinary with the blonde, commenting that it was nice that her friend suggested that but after the next day, she called Azzi excitedly telling her that her parents agreed to let her stay with the Fudds to quarantine together for 6 months so she can help Azzi on her rehab instead of her other 'friend', convincing her that it was because she wants Azzi to stay on track with the basketball and had nothing to do with her not wanting other people to do what she thinks is her responsibility as her best friend.
Azzi being Azzi, didn't think anything of it. She just thought that it was very sweet and kind of Paige for doing that. She was not surprise considering Paige was the first to ever check on her before and after her surgery. She was the only one who cried with her on the way to the hospital and the first to tear up when she was discharged so she wasn't surprise at all when Paige told her the good news. Her mom and dad gave her the same look which she didn't know at that time what it means but now that she and Paige are in a relationship she finally realized what her parents were telling her from before.
She loves Paige, so much that she would never survive if things didn't work out for them in the end. She loves everything about her, even if sometimes the blonde tend to annoy and piss her off, just like what she was doing now.
"I told you a billion times Paige! I am fine. Can't you hear what I just said?" Azzi snapped at the older girl, who was leaning on Azzi's bedroom door. A exasperated expression visible on her face and only adding to Azzi's frustrations. "I don't need that. It's almost 2 months since my operation and Dr. Sulivan said I can use the crutches and try to at least let my knee get used to the pressure if I wanted to get back to walking again without using it for the next few months."
Paige rolled her eyes, "I was there remember?" She push herself off the doorframe and went to grab the wheelchair she had brought with her an hour ago. "I heard what the doctor said Azzi but as far as I remember, he said you can use the wheelchair too if you want just so your knee can rest from all the pressure you are putting on it all day."
Azzi crossed her arms and turned away from her harshly, reaching for her shoes as she was getting ready for her first class back at the campus. "No. I don't need that. You can go ahead and take it back to wherever the hell you get it from. I can't believe you're insisting that on me when you didn't even like using the crutches when you're doing your rehab."
