Chapter 35

Meanwhile…

“D-D-Dad….something is wrong….ow…ow” Crosshair cried out, collapsing to his knees. Thorn barely managed to catch him, Fox held him close hoping to the universe the pain was just ghost pains but Crosshair couldn’t help but cry out louder. 

“Thorn! Go get Kix and Jesse, now!” Fox ordered, Thorn barely nodded before he sprinted out the room, his footfalls caught Cole’s attention. 

“What is it?” Cole questioned but Thorn’s facial expression had Cole hurrying over to the others. 

“Sorry to interrupt but Hunter, Tech. The prince has requested your presence. Please come with me” He received two nods, Tech promised he would be back while Hunter ignored 99 following Tech, it was only when they left the room that they found themselves jogging. 

“Cole, what's wrong?” 

“I don’t exactly know but Thorn signalled me to grab you both” Cole explained, entering the room to the lounge only to gasp. Fox was sitting against the wall holding Crosshair close to his chest, his son panting almost out of breath. 

“Cross, what’s wrong?” Tech barely asked before Crosshair let out a scream of utter agony, Cole’s eyes widened seeing how pale the prince was going as he clutched his abdomen. Fox continued to hold him, Tech turned to look at Hunter who nodded. Tech took off in a sprint for upstairs where he interrupted movie time, Echo and Wrecker looked up in confusion at the intrusion only for Tech’s facial expression to tell the whole story. With the promise from Wooley and Fives to watch the children, all three of them raced downstairs only to find Hunter pacing outside the medical room. 

“Hunter?” 

“The children are getting stronger. Kix wants to do surgery now otherwise Crosshair won’t make it. Fox has ordered it, we have no say in this but Cross has asked for us to be in the room” Hunter explained, Wrecker shook his head slouching into a chair. 

“I can’t…” Wrecker muttered not wanting to see Crosshair in any more pain. Echo only nodded, “I will, technically this is my fault. I found him and brought him into the lifestyle. I will step in for any of you who can’t” Echo flexed his hand, the material so human like. Wrecker patted his shoulder, Tech shared a look with Hunter, both sharing a nod. Hunter remained outside to not only reassure himself but the children who couldn’t help but be curious. 

While inside, Crosshair lay in utter agony under the influence of painkillers with Fox, Jesse, Echo and Tech at the top of his head while the royal doctors and Kix performed the most dangerous surgery ever in royal history. 

“D-ad?”

“Yes Tyler?”

“I love you” 

“I love you too son, now keep fighting. Like a true Huxley” Fox whispered, kissing his son's head, Crosshair barely nodded as he felt more painkillers being pumped into his body plus a light sedative for his heart. Echo gripped his spare hand while Tech held Echo and Crosshairs shoulder. Jesse showed his support to Fox by pulling him close. However, another presence appeared and it was Mayday. Crosshair grinned at his brother who kissed his head, “Fight this and we will end the heart together”. His words made no sense to the others, not even Fox understood but Crosshair definitely did, “You have my permission if worse comes to serve” Crosshairs answer was followed by a cry in the operation room. Mayday soon left the room to comfort Hera who clung to him, he assured Crosshair was stronger than how he looked. Just as the last infant was taken from his body, Crosshairs heart stopped and no one was sure of who moved quicker, Fox or Kix. 

Two Weeks Later…

King Fox had seen so much in his life but never had he seen what his son had done. Not only had his son managed to survive the birth of his children but instead he had managed to give birth to quadruplets, all of which were non-identical and looked like the other batch members. Speaking of his son, Crosshair was hooked up to so many machines in the medical room, he was alive but they were just being over cautious. He managed to have three girls and one boy who was the youngest. Fox saw his own son in all four babies who were in their little pods to help them strive farther in life.
