I ran down the concrete sidewalk as sweat dripped down from my forehead, it was a disgusting feeling but I had to run otherwise they'd get me. I struggled to keep my black hood up while also making sure the front pocket's items didn't fall out. I was extremely stressed and I almost gave up trying to do anything because of the fact it was getting extremely tedious.
I knew that they were close to me - I heard distinct footsteps behind me. Citizens yelled when I pushed pass them with a force that I didn't even know I held, some even fell from my strength. I wanted to look back at the mess that I made but I knew that'd do me more harm than good.
I caught sight of the underground subway, black, glossy bars outlined the hole in the earth, the stairs transitioned from concrete to tile flooring - just like in a school - I practically jumped from the top of the stairs to the first platform, then the second. I kept running, using my momentum from the jumping, I felt lightheaded and my calfs were numb. I knew that I had to keep running, just until I could get onto a train.
I ignored all of the curious stares that were pointed at me and stayed running. They can't get you otherwise you're done for: my mantra repeated in my head, I jumped over the entrance gate - it definitely was illegal - and made a dash down another set of stairs to a train carriage. I didn't care what train, I just had to get a train.
Metal doors were closing as I neared the train, the footsteps were getting closer by the second and my legs refused to go any longer.
I slipped past the train's doors.
They fortunately didn't re-open.
I turned around slowly to look at the culprit who was chasing me.
My emerald eyes met determined, chocolate brown ones.
The train finally started moving.
I was finally safe.
For now.
My chest felt constricted when I sat down in on of the blue seats. The woman besides me shuffled further away from me while keeping her handbag clutched to her side. Why? I didn't know. It was probably because I smelt or something. Or my black clothes. That wasn't a good choice of clothing as I had to run.
I had an idea of where I wanted to go, but I didn't know if the person was ready for me to arrive now. My phone was dead - it was a mistake, promise - so I didn't know how to contact them. It was quite unlucky.
My calves were finally cooling down from the intense sprinting I did, and my breathing was less laboured. I was grateful that my body was fit enough for that otherwise I didn't know if I could've outran that person, especially a man who was that fast and had the stamina to keep up with me.
The train hailed to a stop and more people came on. I kept an eye on a man with a grey suit, maroon tie and black-rimmed glasses; he looked like a model with his defined features but looks could deceive a person greatly. I was pressed up against the plastic-like wall which was adjacent to the doors. The man was on the other set of blue seats on the right of me - the otherside of the sliding doors - I rested my hood-clad head on the wall while angling my head so I could see the male's black shoes. They looked expensive.
It was like that for the next few minutes. He didn't move, neither did I. When the train finally stopped, he made a move to the empty seat in front of me as another man sat next to me. I stilled in my place but kept looking at the empty spot where the man's shoes once were.
