Lisa found herself drawn to the park more often these days, enjoying the solace it offered amidst the chaos of city life. Today, however, her usual calm was disrupted by a familiar face approaching her with an eager smile.
"Lisa!" Jennie called out, her voice tinged with a hint of excitement that Lisa found slightly unnerving.
"Hey, Jennie," Lisa greeted cautiously, wondering why Jennie seemed to be everywhere she went lately.
Jennie fell into step beside her, seamlessly joining her stroll. "I've been meaning to catch up with you. How have you been?"
Lisa smiled politely, her mind racing as she tried to recall how often their paths had crossed recently. "I've been good. Busy with work, you know."
As they walked, Lisa couldn't shake the feeling that Jennie's interest in her had intensified. She had always been friendly, but now it felt like something more, something almost suffocating.
"So, Lisa," Jennie began, her tone casual but her eyes probing, "what are you doing this weekend?"
Lisa hesitated, wondering how much she should reveal. "Not sure yet. Probably just relaxing."
"Oh, that sounds nice," Jennie replied, a little too eagerly. "Maybe we could do something together. Hang out?"
Lisa nodded noncommittally, internally debating how to politely decline without hurting Jennie's feelings. Before she could respond, however, Rosé appeared out of nowhere, her bright smile instantly lifting Lisa's spirits.
"Lisa!" Rosé exclaimed, wrapping her in a warm hug. "I haven't seen you in forever!"
Relieved by the interruption, Lisa returned the hug gratefully. "Rosé, hey! It's been too long."
Jennie's expression darkened briefly before she plastered on a smile to Rosé.
Rosé, ever perceptive, sensed the tension between the two and glanced between them curiously. "Everything okay here?" She stepped forward with a warm smile, extending her hand to Jennie. "Hi, I'm Rosé. It's nice to meet you."
Jennie hesitated for a moment, then shook Rosé's hand, her smile faltering. "I'm Jennie," she said quietly, her eyes darting to the other person briefly before returning to Rosé.
Lisa nodded quickly. "Yeah, everything's fine. We were just catching up."
Jennie interjected smoothly, "We were just talking about maybe hanging out this weekend, right, Lisa?"
Lisa shot Jennie a cautious look, unsure how to respond. Rosé, sensing Lisa's discomfort, stepped in diplomatically. "That sounds like fun! The more, the merrier, right?"
Jennie's smile tightened imperceptibly, but she nodded in agreement. "Sure, the more the merrier."
As they parted ways, Lisa couldn't shake the feeling that Jennie's interest in her was becoming more than just friendly. There was an intensity in Jennie's eyes that unnerved her, a possessiveness that hinted at something deeper.
Later that evening, as Lisa reflected on the encounter, she couldn't help but feel uneasy. Jennie's sudden appearances and persistent invitations were starting to feel intrusive. She wondered if she should talk to Rosé about it, get another perspective.
Meanwhile, Jennie sat alone in her apartment, her thoughts consumed by Lisa. She scrolled through photos they had taken together, imagining a future where they were closer than ever. Her grip on reality was slipping, her obsession with Lisa growing stronger by the day.
