Jennie stormed out of the apartment, her mind racing with conflicting emotions. She couldn't believe Jisoo would threaten to expose her to the family. Didn't she understand? Ruby was essential to protect their love, to shield Lisa from any threat, real or perceived. As she walked briskly down the street, she felt the weight of Jisoo's words like a lead ball in her chest.
She needed to clear her head, to find solace in the only place that had always brought her peace-the old park by the river. It was late evening now, the park cast in shadows and dappled moonlight. Sitting on a familiar bench by the water, Jennie closed her eyes, trying to steady her breathing and calm the storm inside her mind.
"Why does she doubt me?" she muttered to herself, frustration and hurt tainting her voice.
On the other hand, Lisa sat on the edge of her bed, her mind a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions. Jennie's revelation about Ruby, her alter ego, had left her reeling. The idea that Jennie, the woman she was starting to fall in love with, had another persona that was capable of such extreme actions was almost too much to bear.
She had known that Jennie was complex, intense, and sometimes unpredictable, but this? This was beyond anything she could have imagined.
As the evening sun cast long shadows across the room, Lisa stared out the window, her heart heavy with confusion and fear. She recalled the conversation with Jennie, the way her voice had changed, the coldness in Jennie's eyes. It was as if she had been speaking to a different person entirely. The reality of Jennie's Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) was slowly sinking in, and with it came a sense of dread.
"What do I do now?" she whispered to herself, hugging her knees to her chest.
A soft knock on the door interrupted her thoughts. Lisa's heart skipped a beat as she turned to see Jennie standing in the doorway, her expression a mix of determination and apprehension.
"Lisa, baby?" Jennie asked gently.
Jennie entered, closing the door behind her. She sat down next to Lisa and took her hand.
"Baby, there's something I need to tell you," Jennie began, her voice steady but laced with tension. "I'm going to be gone for 2 or 3 days. I need to take care of something...
something I need to get rid of.
Lisa's eyes widened with concern. "What do you mean? Where are you going?"
Jennie hesitated, then sighed. "It's complicated, but I need to handle this on my own. However, I don't want you to be alone during this time. I'm bringing someone with me to stay here with you. Her name is Nayeon, a friend of mine."
Before Lisa could respond, Jennie turned and called out, "Nayeon, you can come in now."
A moment later, Nayeon stepped into the room. She was strikingly beautiful, with an air of confidence that immediately put Lisa on edge. Nayeon smiled warmly at Lisa, but there was something unsettling about her demeanor.
"Nayeon, this is Lisa," Jennie introduced. "Baby, this is Nayeon."
Lisa managed a polite smile. "Nice to meet you, Nayeon."
"Nice to meet you too, Lisa," Nayeon replied, her eyes twinkling with amusement.
Jennie stood up and motioned for Nayeon to follow her out of the room. "Excuse us for a moment, Baby. We'll be right back."
Once they were in the hallway, Jennie leaned in close to Nayeon, her voice low and threatening. "Listen carefully, Nayeon. I brought you here to keep an eye on Lisa, not to flirt with her. If I find out you've crossed any boundaries, you'll be punished. Do you understand?"
Nayeon smirked, her eyes glinting mischievously. "Relax, Jennie. I'll behave. But it's cute that you're so protective."
Jennie narrowed her eyes, her expression hardening. "I'm serious, Nayeon. Don't test me."
Nayeon shrugged nonchalantly. "Alright, alright. I get it. No flirting. But you have to admit, Lisa is quite the catch."
Jennie's jaw tightened, but she forced herself to remain calm. "Just do your job, Nayeon."
With that, Jennie turned and re-entered Lisa's room, followed by Nayeon. She sat back down next to Lisa, who looked at them both with a mixture of curiosity and unease.
"I'm gonna miss you so much" Jennie said, hugging Lisa tightly and kiss her on the lips. "In the meantime, Nayeon will be here to keep you company and make sure you're safe."
Lisa nodded slowly, still trying to process everything. "Okay. Be careful, nini."
"Nini?"
"Why you don't like it?" Lisa asked.
"No, i love it starting from now you will call me that." Jennie said as she's fighting urge to smile.
Jennie leaned in and kissed Lisa's forehead. " Take care of yourself, Baby Lili. I'll be back before you know it."
"I'm going to leave now, behave Lisa okay? And Nayeon watch her carefully" Nayeon nodded to her.
Jennie came to Lisa and kissed her once again.
"I'll only be gone for 2 or 3 days, I'm going to miss you love. I love you, bye" Lisa just nodded and smile gently.
As Jennie left the room, Lisa glanced at Nayeon, who was now lounging casually in a chair, watching her with a playful smile inside to the room.
"Cute and look so yummy" Nayeon mumble.
"So, Lisa," Nayeon began, "looks like we're going to be spending some time together. I promise to be on my best behavior."
Lisa forced a smile, feeling a sense of foreboding. The weight of Jennie's absence and the presence of this enigmatic new guardian left her feeling more uncertain than ever.
