I woke up to the soft rustling of leaves outside the window, the golden hues of the setting sun casting a warm glow across the room. Blinking the sleep from my eyes, I realized it was evening. Stretching, I glanced around, taking in the unfamiliar yet welcoming surroundings of Lisa's childhood home. The events of the day-our arrival, meeting her family-came rushing back, filling me with a sense of anticipation for the evening ahead.

A gentle knock on the door pulled me from my thoughts. "Jennie, are you awake?" It was Lisa's voice, soft and tentative.

"Yes, come in," I called, sitting up and running a hand through my hair.

Lisa stepped into the room, a warm smile on her face. "Dinner is ready. Mom wanted me to bring you down."

I returned her smile, feeling my heart swell at the sight of her. "Thanks, Lisa. I'll be right down."

As we made our way downstairs, the sounds of laughter and conversation grew louder, filling me with a sense of belonging I hadn't expected to find here. Lisa's family was gathered around a large dining table, laden with an array of delicious-looking dishes. The atmosphere was lively and inviting, and I couldn't help but feel a bit nervous as I joined them.

"Jennie, please sit here," Lisa's mother said, indicating a seat beside her. "We have so much to talk about."

I smiled and took my place, feeling a wave of warmth at her welcoming gesture. Lisa sat across from me, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

As we began to eat, the conversation flowed naturally. Lisa's parents asked me about my life in Korea, my work, and my interests. I answered their questions as openly as I could, feeling a genuine connection with them.

"What made you decide to come to Thailand with Lisa?" her father asked, his eyes curious but kind.

I took a moment to gather my thoughts. "Lisa has been missing her family a lot, and I wanted to do something special for her. I wanted to see where she grew up and meet the people who mean so much to her."

Lisa's mother smiled, reaching over to pat my hand. "That is very thoughtful of you, Jennie. Family is important, and it's wonderful that you want to share this experience with her."

I nodded, feeling a surge of gratitude for their acceptance. "Lisa means everything to me," I said softly, glancing at her. "I want to be a part of her life in every way."

Lisa looked down, her cheeks tinged with a delicate blush. Her eyes met mine, and in that moment, I saw a mixture of emotions-affection, uncertainty, and something deeper that I couldn't quite place.

The dinner continued with more stories and laughter. Lisa's siblings shared amusing anecdotes from their childhood, and I found myself laughing along, feeling like a part of their family. The food was delicious, and I savored every bite, appreciating the effort that had gone into preparing this meal.

As dessert was served, Lisa's father turned to me with a serious expression. "Jennie, we have heard a lot about you from Lisa. She speaks very highly of you, and we can see why. But there is something we must address."

My heart skipped a beat, and I felt a wave of anxiety wash over me. "What is it?" I asked, my voice steady despite the turmoil inside.

He glanced at Lisa, then back at me. "We know about the circumstances that brought Lisa to you. We know it wasn't...conventional. But we also see how much she cares for you now. We just want to make sure that this relationship is built on mutual respect and love."

I felt a lump form in my throat. The memories of how I had taken Lisa, how I had forced her into my world, came rushing back. But before I could respond, Lisa spoke up.

"Dad, Mom," she began, her voice trembling slightly. "I know what Jennie did was wrong. But she has changed. She has shown me so much love and care. I can't ignore the fact that I am starting to fall in love with her."

Her words hung in the air, and I felt a mix of shock and joy. Lisa's confession was unexpected, but it filled me with an overwhelming sense of happiness. I reached for her hand, squeezing it gently.

"Lisa, I-"

She shook her head, cutting me off. "Let me finish," she said, her voice stronger now. "What Jennie did was wrong, but I believe in second chances. I believe people can change. And Jennie has shown me that she is willing to do anything to make things right. I can't ignore the feelings I have for her, no matter how complicated they are."

Her parents exchanged a look, then nodded. "We trust you, Lisa," her mother said softly. "We want you to be happy. If Jennie makes you happy, then that is all we need to know."

Tears welled up in my eyes, and I felt an immense sense of relief. "Thank you," I whispered, my voice choked with emotion. "I promise to love and protect Lisa with everything I have."

Lisa's father gave me a small, approving nod. "That's all we ask."

The rest of the evening passed in a blur of emotions. We continued to talk and laugh, but I couldn't shake the weight of Lisa's confession and her parents' acceptance. It was more than I had hoped for, and I felt a deep sense of gratitude for this family who had welcomed me so warmly.

As the night drew to a close, Lisa and I found ourselves alone in the garden, the cool evening air wrapping around us. We sat on a bench, the soft glow of lanterns illuminating our faces.

"Thank you for saying what you did," I said, breaking the comfortable silence. "It means so much to me."

Lisa looked at me, her eyes filled with a mix of emotions. "I meant every word, Jennie. Despite everything, I can't deny my feelings for you. I'm falling in love with you."

I felt a surge of happiness at her words, but also a fierce protectiveness. Lisa was mine, and I would do anything to keep her. "Lisa," I said, my voice low and intense. "I love you more than anything. I would do anything to keep you safe and happy. Even if it means-"

I stopped myself, the thought too dark to voice. But I knew, deep down, that I was willing to go to any lengths to keep Lisa by my side. I was ready to kill if someone tried to take her away from me.

Lisa must have sensed the intensity of my thoughts because she placed a hand on my cheek, bringing my focus back to her. "I trust you, Jennie," she said softly. "I believe in us."

I leaned in, capturing her lips in a tender kiss. It was a promise, a vow of my love and devotion. As we pulled apart, I rested my forehead against hers, feeling the warmth of her breath against my skin.

"Let's go inside," Lisa said, her voice barely a whisper. "It's getting late."

I nodded, taking her hand in mine as we stood up. We walked back to the house, the bond between us stronger than ever. I knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, we would face them together.

As we settled into bed that night, I held Lisa close, feeling the steady rise and fall of her breath. She was my everything, and I would do whatever it took to keep her by my side. The future was uncertain, but I was ready to face it with Lisa, my love, my light, and my reason for being.
