Morning arrived

Phoenix woke up clutching his back, whatever random position he had crammed himself into last night clearly had negative effects. Once he came to his senses and the lights didn't seem as bright anymore, Phoenix stood up.

Edgeworth was deep asleep on the desk with a pile of papers laying under his head. Some of his tea had spilled over and Phoenix saw a small puddle gathering around the tips of his hair. Quietly, Phoenix gathered some tissues and slowly dabbed the puddle careful not to make too much noise.

Still, Edgeworth was a light sleeper and he woke up in a panic, his eyes wide and his arms clutching the files. He was breathing heavily until he saw Phoenix and calmed down.

Edgeworth looked a mess, he had heavy eye bags and the tea had made the ends of his hair wet. Phoenix felt so sorry for him, having to overwork himself nearly every day, clearly he was going through a lot.

"Wright?" Edgeworth was squinting whilst talking to Phoenix, he slowly placed his head into his hands and looked as though he was going to fall back asleep.

"Edgeworth wait don't put your head on the desk there's some tea. It'll get your hair wet."

Edgeworth was so exhausted that Phoenix could tell he didn't register what he said, to stop Edgeworth from ruining his hair Phoenix just told him to lie back whilst he cleared away the files and tea.

The files were all neatly ordered and analysed with notes written in the margins, compared to Phoenix's messy half intelligible sentences were nothing compared to this. Whilst he was putting each folder in it's place a question sprung to Phoenix's eyes.

"Edgeworth?" Edgeworth looked back up his eyes still half closed. He only answered in hums and simple yes's and no's.

"Why were you so panicked when I woke you up?"

Edgeworth began explaining that a few years back he had been working another night shift and had fallen asleep without locking the door. Someone had walked in and tried to taken a file from the current case he was working on, Edgeworth woke up and an argument broke out. The culprit grabbed a heavy object and if someone hadn't walked in that night might of ended very differently. When Phoenix tried to grab the file, because of how tired he was, Edgeworth forgot it was him and panicked.

Phoenix listened in shock, how had he never heard about this before? This was such an interesting story and somehow Phoenix had never heard about this before.

"I can see the shock on your face Wright. Is it because I've never told you about this before? This story is pretty old so I must've just forgotten about it, believe me I would never leave something like this out on purpose."

Phoenix felt a little blush hearing Edgeworth say he wouldn't leave something out on purpose. It felt nice to hear someone say they actually care.

Phoenix realised that maybe he had been staring at Edgeworth for too long, Edgeworth looked at him with a confused face so Phoenix came up with an excuse as quick as he could.

"Are-"

"There's some coffee still in you hair from when you were lying down!"

"But I drank tea?"

"Same thing!"

Phoenix grabbed another handful of tissues and shoved them into Edgeworth's hands, that's when Phoenix realised there actually was tea in his hair. The tissues were all soaking once Edgeworth was finished running them through his hair.

Both of them sat awkwardly whilst Edgeworth cleaned his hair, Phoenix had no idea what to do so he stared at the walls. His eyes landed on Edgeworth's old suit from his first case, he had never really paid that much attention to it but now when there was nothing else to do Phoenix began studying every detail like he was reading one of his law textbooks again.
