The moment Phoenix was let out of the hospital he went running to his office. He still felt flustered from his last interaction with Miles, his breath still short and panicked.

Maybe when this is all over? Should I?

It had been too long, Phoenix knew he had neglected his relationship with Miles for too long. After this whole case was done, once he had Maya back safe and sound...

It would be the time.

Phoenix pushed those thoughts to the back of his mind for now and continued to make his way to the office. About 5 minutes later he finally arrived and whacked the front door open, releasing all the files in his hand onto the desk.

A few minutes later, Pearl walked in, Phoenix had been knocked out cold for a few days and was so disoriented that he had completely forgotten about her.

"Pearl?"

"Mr Nick!" Pearl ran up to Phoenix and jumped into his arms, they both stood embrace until Pearl slipped down onto the floor.

Phoenix held up Pearl's face and began questioning her whilst in a panicked frenzy.

"Pearl are you ok? You've been eating and sleeping alright haven't you? Oh please tell me you're fine."

Pearl answered back with a huge smile on her face.

"Yes I've been eating whatever Mr Edgeworth brings me!"

"What?"

"Well, for the first day when you were in hospital Larry brought me home but other than that he didn't do much. I was super scared! Then sometime in the afternoon someone came to the door. I wasn't tall enough to look through the glass thingy so I just had to open the door. Mr Edgeworth was standing there with the most delicious food ever! Really Mr Nick why can't you cook like that?"

"Pearls-"

"Anyways he kept bringing me loads of snacks and food and even came during the nighttime to make sure I was safe! He has the best stories y'know it was sooooo cool hearing about what he did in Europe. And when I got sleepy he would take the spare key and lock up the office. I mean I was super tired but I'm pretty sure I could hear him really late into the night like ELEVEN. That's so late I wonder how he wasn't exhausted!!! Then he'd leave me alone in the office to sleep. Oh but Mr Nick I was so scared to think you would die! They had a huge medical truck to take you away! Please don't leave me like that again! Don't leave me like Maya!"

Phoenix stood in shock. He could barely process what he had just heard. Poor Pearl was panicking the entire time he was in hospital. She had even thought that he might have died and left her all alone, no other family or person to turn to. She thought that Maya had left her too

But he was in even more shock at Miles deciding to care for Pearl, he would have thought that Gumshoe would be the one there for her. It was sweet, all those things that he did. Caring for her while he was away.

"Pearl, did anyone else come to visit?"

"Oh well apart from Mr Edgeworth, Mr Detective did come visit too!"

"Gumshoe was here too? Did he give you anything?"

"Yup!" Pearl ran over to Phoenix's desk and pulled a teddy bear from one of the drawers.

"Him!"

That was nice, Pearl had definitely gotten some attention whilst she was waiting for Phoenix to come back. At least she wasn't neglected and by herself. Who knows what kind of food she could've been eating or if she even slept properly.

"Oh Mr Nick I need to tell you something."

"What is it Pearls?"

"Mr Edgeworth kept a note behind."

That was weird, why hadn't Miles just given the note directly to him?

"Can I see it?"

Pearl quickly pulled the note closer to her chest, Phoenix let out a small sigh. She was shaking her head vigorously.

"Why's that?" Phoenix raised and eyebrow, clearly this wasn't going anywhere.

"Well... Mr Edgeworth said I have to tell you something first."

"I'm listening."

"Mr Edgeworth had come to the door to drop off my breakfast as usual and usually he will sit down and eat with me but today he looked like he was in a rush. There was a huge bunch of red flowers in his hand,"

The bouquet, Miles must have come here first before visiting me.

"and obviously my breakfast basket in his other hand. Now that I think about it, his face was probably as red as those flowers! Anyways he gave me this piece of fancy card I must absolutely, definitely and utt... (What did he say again?) Utterly! Not give it to you without explaining a message."

"Ok so can I have the card now?"

"No silly I have to say the message!"

Phoenix sighed once more and waited for Pearl to continue talking.

"He told me:

This note is for Phoenix so please don't open it. Also, I need you to say that I know I could have given this to him at our hospital visit but I think I was a little embarrassed. Can I trust you Ms Fey? Now don't forget to give this to him ok? It's very important.

And of course I said I could do it! No job is too great for me! Anyway here's the note."

Pearl held out the small piece of paper and Phoenix quickly grabbed it leading Pearl to cross her arms and tut about manners.

The note read:

Dear Phoenix,

I'm sorry I couldn't tell this to you in person, I get embarrassed and shy too sometimes.

All I wanted to say was...

New beginnings?

How about we start fresh this time? Screw those other 'new beginnings' lets really start over!

Would you like that?

From Miles.

Phoenix would very much like that, he would like that a lot in fact. He let out a sly smile and looked at Pearl.

"Thanks Pearls."

"No problem!"

What would be a better start than finishing a case?

"Pearl I've decided. Our proper investigation starts tomorrow. We're coming to get Maya."

Pearl hugged Phoenix but all he could think about was Miles. That note was now engrained in his mind and all these new possibilities seemed to open up.

A/N

Hello again just wanted to say we are very nearly done with the whole Bridge to the Turnabout case. I've decided I don't really want to focus on Dahlia but more on Miles, Phoenix and Maya. Sorry if the pacing of the episode felt fast I wanted it to feel like Pearl is speaking at supersonic speed.
