Phoenix woke up to the sun shining directly into his eyes, today was his last day bound to this hospital bed. It made him feel a sense of hope knowing that Miles was there to help Phoenix while he was struggling.

The room was quiet and empty, outside his room Phoenix could hear hospital staff running around carrying medical equipment, today seemed like a calmer day. For once, even with everything going on, Phoenix felt at peace, he felt... Comfortable. It was nice not having all the pressure and problems weighted on yourself.

Bits and pieces of the dream Phoenix had the night before resurfaced but he couldn't quite remember everything. To clear his head Phoenix decided to stand up and just walk around, he couldn't leave his room but even some movement would feel nice.

Slowly, he made his way to the bedside table, Phoenix looked at the time.

7:07 am

If Phoenix wasn't in hospital he would be going to Iris' trial, it was going to start in a few hours. Instead, Miles would be taking his place, as to not raise suspicion Miles had managed to convince Franziska to prosecute and to get a brand new judge who wasn't familiar of the attorney's in the area.

Speaking of Miles, where was he?

Phoenix remembered Miles promising to visit him before the trial, just so that they could go over the case notes.

However,

Phoenix had a feeling inside of him that wished they wouldn't just meet over work. He missed those days where it was just the two of them, having fun, spending time together. Just because they could...

Inside him, whenever he thought of Miles, Phoenix felt a burning feeling. The sting of his betrayal still came to mind but now he could really see Miles trying to change. Phoenix now understood that feeling of intense pressure just breaking Miles, he only wished that Miles could've told him before it all happened.

Phoenix was becoming open to the idea of starting over. Properly. No more just two surface level friends. No longer could he hide his feelings, which he had been forcing down due to other matters. Phoenix longed for that understanding relationship that Miles and him once had.

Phoenix decided that morning that one day, when he was truly ready, he was going to properly confess his feelings to Miles. Before that however, Phoenix needed to get everything in order, everything troubling him out of the way first.

As Phoenix went to get himself a glass of water from the cooler, he saw a person sitting in the corner of the room.

Miles.

Phoenix had completely forgotten that Miles had stayed the night, all so that he wouldn't feel as lonely. It brought about a storm of emotions within him. Just thinking about Miles staying the night for him made Phoenix feel giddy. Right now that wasn't what he should be focusing on, there were more pressing matters at hand. Phoenix would confess his feelings when he was ready.

Walking over to Miles, Phoenix kept patting his face as if he was trying to pat down any blush or a hint of embarrassment. Taking a deep breath in, Phoenix gently tapped Miles prompting him to slowly open his eyes. Once Miles saw Phoenix his eyes widened and he jumped out of his seat. Phoenix could see the huge blush which covered his entire face.

In shock Miles shouted at Phoenix.

"Phoenix! What on earth are you doing up?!"

"Miles, calm down I'm fine it's not like I'm going to break my back if I stand up."

Maybe Phoenix shouldn't have said that, the moment those words left his mouth he began to feel an intense pain throbbing at his side.

Miles began to panic and nearly sprinted out the door to find a doctor, Phoenix had to hold him back just to make sure he didn't go screaming his head off.
