Donghyck was surprised when he found out that Renjun had been discharged one evening as he ran into the two mothers sprawled out on his living room floor with Eunbi and a bunch of toys.

"Oh, you're already back? I guess it's time for me to leave you guys." Mrs Huang said as she was getting up, visibly enjoying spending time with her granddaughter.

"I came home earlier today. You can stay and play with her longer since she doesn't seem to be sleepy at all." He said as he approached the girl and kissed her cheek, earning himself a cute giggle in return.

After taking a quick shower and changing into comfortable clothes Donghyck sat down at the table to enjoy the home cooked dinner when a second plate filled with food caught his eyes.

"Did you not eat yet?"

"We already had dinner, if you're wondering, Mrs Huang will take that portion for Renjunie."

"Won't it already too late for his dinner? He always eats with Eunbi." Donghyck wondered as he savoured the delicious food he was sure wasn't his mother's.

"He has to eat a bit later because of his medicine, otherwise he wouldn't be able to sleep through the night without getting woken up by the pain."

Listening to the woman speak as if it was natural that he was in pain made the man wonder just how serious that little accident actually was.

Finishing his plate and doing the dishes he was about to join the women when the plate of cooling food once again attracted his attention.

He wanted to ask Mrs Huang when she intended to take the food considering it was almost 11pm, but seeing how the grandmothers enjoyed playing with Eunbi he changed his plans.

"I'll go take this to Renjun, so just tire her out as much as you can while I'm gone." He called out and put on some slides before heading to the elevator.

Stopping in front of the unfamiliar door he double checked the nameplate before reaching for the doorbell and waiting patiently.

A minute passed, then another one, nothing but silence on the other side of the door so Donghyck picked up his courage and reached for the knob to find it unlocked.

"Hello? Renjun? I brought you dinner." He called out as he entered the dark apartment, having difficulty navigating to the closest surface he could leave the plate on after being in the brightly lit corridor before.

As he was about to walk back out assuming that the other male was asleep muted shuffling was heard from somewhere before a loud crash made him stop in his tracks.

"Renjun?" He quickly walked over to what he vaguely remembers as the bedroom and opened the door to find it dark and empty.

The bathroom door adjacent to it was open and it seemed to be the only place where the lights were turned on, now making out the pained groans and moans the man let out.

"Renjun? Are you okay?"

Not wanting to walk in on the man possibly being naked Donghyck slowly approached the door when a quiet 'I'm fine' caught his sensitive ears.

Glancing inside he could finally make out the figure of the shorter leaning against the toilet lid in only a flimsy tank top and boxers that barely hid his body.

Holding his breath Donghyck's eyes scanned the colorful dark bruises and scratches on the almost porcelain skin of the man, noticing the white gauze on the side of his head as well as the sling laying on the floor.

Carefully stepping inside he crouched down to examine the shorter male, noticing his eyes screwed shut and lips bitten almost bloody from the pain.

"Do you need some medicine? Want me to bring it over? Where is it?"

"Second drawer..." A breezy voice said and the tan male immediately turned around to search for it, a bit taken aback by the array of medicine in the mentioned drawer.

"Which one?" He pulled out container after container to check their contents before coming across something he has seen before, the same drug his grandma used to take.

"White box with a red triangle on it ... Yeah, that one." Renjun nodded once he opened his eyes to identify the packaging, trying to push himself off the toilet and sit up properly to take it.

"Whoa whoa, slow down!" An arm held him in place as another jolt of pain caused him to lose balance and almost crash on the tiles.

Donghyck carefully reached behind the smaller and slotted his own body beside Renjun's to support his weight while he opened the pills and reached for the water bottle that lay beside them on the floor.

Watching the other man slowly swallow his medicine and let out a breathless thanks was not reassuring enough though, especially after seeing the bloody bandage on his arm.

"What's this?" As far as he was told the shorter only suffered head injuries, but looking at him now that was obviously an understatement.

Following the eyes of the other man Renjun understood what he meant as well as how it looked without any context about his injury.

"I'm going for a checkup tomorrow to get the dressing changed and the suture looked at, maybe even get an x-ray to check if all the metal plates and screws they inserted were in place."

Staring at his destroyed arm in distaste Renjun didn't notice the warm brown orbs examining his expression closely.

It was the first time the two were this close to one another, both physically as well as mentally, allowing Donghyck to get a glimpse behind the usually well maintained facade of the shorter.

Waiting for the medicine to start working Donghuck remembered the reason why he came over and slipped out of the bathroom to retrieve the plate of food.

"I never thought it would come to it that I'd be eating from the toilet, but I guess this is just another surprise life has in tow." The shorter remarked sarcastically as he eyed his mother's signature dish without any appetite.

"You have to eat something otherwise the medicine will hurt your stomach and you'll end up in the hospital again." The taller commented before scooping a spoonful of the rice and holding it up.

Renjun let out a soulless laugh at the irony of it all, for a second intending to break it to the other that it was already  too late taking care of his stomach now but biting back the comment.

"Am I a kid?" He snorted at the sight of the spoon but knew that the only thing keeping him sitting upright was his left arm, so he couldn't even feed himself at this moment.

If his mind wasn't hazy from the still present dull aching of his head or the side effects of the medicine he would have surely felt embarrassed or at least put up a better fight.

Donghyck only watched as the man slowly accepted the food he offered, looking more and more dazed as the moments passed similar to Eunbi when she falls asleep after eating. Cute.

Four bites later Renjun could barely keep his eyes open, seemingly drunk on the strong medicine so the taller helped him drag his way too light body to bed, passing out like light.

Staring at the disheveled and bruised body of the man Donghyck felt something stir in his chest, hardly believing that this person was indeed the neat and calm Huang Renjun whom he was raising their daughter with.
