↣levi ackermanYou stood in front of the door to the commander's office, holding a wooden tea tray. It was a sudden request, really. You were actually surprised when the captain, Levi, tapped your shoulder and ordered you to bring tea to Commander Erwin's room.
This wasn't the first time you were asked to prepare tea for him, but it was the first that Levi personally asked you for it.
You were naturally surprised, seeing as how you came to know him was a little complicated.
Since you joined the Survey Corps, you were out every night studying and training by yourself without letting anyone find out. But one time, the captain happened to find you with your nose deep into a book past midnight.
You pleaded him not to tell anyone and that you would accept any punishment he'd give out, but he said since you stayed out so late, why not put it to good use by bringing him tea to drink in his office?
You had no choice but to agree, afraid that he might tell on you. It was your punishment, in a sense.
He actually stayed up pretty late too, and you were surprised to find out a lot of things about him, like how he liked his tea served hot and other little things.
He was untouchable, a mystery that compelled every bit of your curiosity.
"-is far too weak to keep up with our activities. If it comes to that, we'll have to take responsibility."
You held the tray on either side carefully as you stood in front of the door. On the other side, you could hear apprehensive voices, tied up in an argument.
"She is too weak, Commander! Why risk to let her stay in the legion? It will be our responsibility if she dies in vain!"
You froze, immediately understanding the subject of their argument, the tray shaking in your clutch.
Your hand stopped halfway as it reached for the knob and you let it drop to your side. Something dark was growing in your heart; it was fear, possibly more terrifying than the enemy. You had been casting the possibility of this happening aside for so long.
It had to be you. It was definitely-
"I'll take responsibility for her life."
You closed a hand over your mouth to suppress a gasp.
The gruff voice sounded familiar until it finally occurred to you that it was Captain Levi who spoke those words.
"And make sure she does not die in vain," he added, causing the others to fall silent.
"You mean to say you're letting her into your squad, Levi?"
Silence. Only more silence followed after Erwin's query.
Your heart thumped wildly in your chest when you heard footsteps ascending towards the door. You couldn't possibly run away. They'd figure out either way that someone was listening on the other side.
You braced yourself and tried to act as normal as you could.
The door opened and the captain paused in silent shock when he saw you holding the tray he ordered for.
You smiled at him timidly. "Captain, here's the tea you ordered."
He furrowed his brows, if it was even possible to furrow them any further, and began walking away. "Bring it to my office."
