You snickered, hiding behind a wall when you saw Armin heading to your direction. Oblivious as always, carrying a stack of papers in front of him that was almost covering his face.

Right on cue, you jumped from where you were hiding just as he was about to make that turn, making him yelp and drop what he was carrying.

Your laugh sounded across the halls as you gaped in awe at his shocked expression, like a dear in headlights.

"[Y/n]!" Armin staggered back. He looked at the littered pieces of paper on the floor and frowned. "That was for the Commander..."

It was so fun teasing him. Knowing he'd give the same pouty expression you always liked, you couldn't help it.

You giggled, kneeling down to help him pick up the scattered paperwork. "Aw, don't be mad! I just wanted to surprise you!"

Armin sighed with his everlasting patience and took the last few pieces of paper in my hands. "Honestly, you never change."

You and Armin have been friends since you last remembered, but not as long as he's been with Eren and Mikasa. How you met, well, was much of a coincidence.

You had the worst grades back when you were trainees, and you were failing your classes, but Armin helped you out. Actually, you just asked (or forced) him to help you study when you heard he had the best grades in academic outputs. He wouldn't disagree no matter how stubborn you were. You liked his patience and his kind smiles.

No, you wouldn't admit it but you actually liked him. If you told him that, you wouldn't know how he'd react. It was much better knowing he'd make the same face all the time. You didn't want to lose your friendship over something as stupid as your unrequited love.

"Hey, Armin!" You walked beside him as he headed to Erwin's office. "We have the day off tomorrow right?"

He raised an eyebrow at me nervously. "Um, yeah."

"Go out with me tomorrow. I'm going to show you something really good!" You laughed and bound for the other direction once you reached the hall leading to the office. "I'll pick you up by your cabin in the morning. Don't be late, okay?"

"W-Wait! [Y/n]!"

He tried to call you back but whatever he wanted to say, you were already running away and wouldn't hear it.

This is going to be so much fun!

You waited outside of his cabin, earning a few suspicious glances from the boys as they went out in their casual clothes for the weekend. Giggling to yourself, you hid a rucksack behind your back that contained what you needed for today.

You plopped down the stairs to his cabin and pulled your rucksack under your feet, then observed the cadets passing by, greeting each other while you waited for your friend.

When it felt like a few hours had passed, watching the crowd diminish, you knew you had been waiting for a long time. You began to frown.

It was almost noon and the sun was scorching your skin.

I can't believe he would forget! You pouted, grabbing the rucksack to your chest and dusting it.

Trying to reassure yourself, you stood up and entered the porch. Maybe he was busy?

You peeked inside and saw the beds made, but no sign of Armin or any of his roommates. Disappointment reached its way into your heart, and something else. Armin always went with you during weekends, sometimes with Eren and Mikasa. You felt abandoned.
