Your goal of shrinking your inner circle and living the rest of your highschool life quietly was ultimately tossed in the gutter by yesterday's little fiasco.
"Take it down." You stood with your arms crossed in front of the architecture department's door.
"But [y/n]-" Woong held up his hands in defense.
"This is embarrassing." You cringed.
What you were looking at was a monument of you made out of plaster with the title hero under it on a gold plaque.
It was a relief to be on such good terms with a useful group such as the burn knuckles, but this was a bit.. much.
You couldn't look at it with a straight face.
"If Vasco has a problem with it then tell him to come see me." You told then curtly.
They yelled in frustration as you walked away.
It was bad enough that all you got was stares as you just tried to get to your classroom. Any attempt at someone who you've never talked to prior trying to get buddy-buddy was shut down almost immediately. You didn't have the time nor energy for it.
You didn't want to be the headline of someones newest social media post, not like your wants were a priority when it came to your old pal Doo who sneaked a selfie with you just seconds after entering the school gates earlier.
You just wanted to kick your feet up and rest your head at this point.
The more people recognized your face, the more dangerous it got for you to be sneaking around like you did when you went to Gangseo.
Things were going to get significantly more risky. Especially with the new message you got when you woke up this morning.
There was going to be a meeting regarding the state of the workers, though it just seemed like a typical check-in with the presidents and executives.
You received an invite, and Samuel, being the reliable guy he can be when he wants, offered you a ride.
But of course even though you agreed, you still didn't expect a smooth ride. He doesn't normally do things for free, and you didn't expect yourself to be an exception.
Like mentioned before, you had plans to separate yourself from the workers for a while. But Jake telling Gun that you were a member of the workers ultimately screwed your plan.
But that didn't mean it made it impossible to execute the plan, that just meant that it was going to be much more difficult. You weren't going to be able to leave the workers for a very long while now.
And when you walked into your class you found multiple eyes looking back at you.
You ignored them, instead looking at Duke and smiling in relief at his company.
Having a genuine person to go back to after suffing long hours of being around the opposite was nothing less of a miracle.
But you felt an arm stopping you from moving forward.
"[Y/n]!" Mary steps in front of you and blocks your view.
"Come sit with us." She smiled.
You stared at her for a second before looking past her. Duke was just listening to music and writing down in his notebook, probably jotting down lyrics.
Then you looked over to Mary's people.
Vin was leaning against his chair nonchalantly with his arms behind his head. The other two he hung out with were keeping their eyes on you expectedly.
Mary was waiting patiently.
Duke seemed fine on his own, and like Duke, Mary wasn't like the people who tried to talk to you because of what happened recently.
"Uh, sure." You awkwardly smiled.
Mary was one thing but you were feeling anxious because of the other guy's. Their stares were unnerving.
And as expected, when you sat down with them you were met with a bombardment of questions.
The two boys who were a part of Vin's entourage were very curious about Faye, and morbidly so. You tried your best to give them boring answers so they'd back off before eventually Mary had to stop them.
"Jeez, you guys are so dense. Why would she want to talk about something so traumatic?" Mary scowled at them and they rolled their eyes.
You wouldn't use the word traumatic for yourself, but you did appreciate the help.
"It's all in good spirit." One of them pointed out.
"Yeah, she's a hero." The other one teased.
You didn't pay them any mind and just Looked at your phone.
"It's not like it could've been that hard." Vin suddenly cut in.
"Vin..." Mary spoke out.
"What? They said the chick who did it was pretty weak right?" He shrugged.
"That's true." The other two agreed.
Mary was getting frustrated.
"[Y/n], say something!" She looked to you and you looked back to her as if you were shocked she wanted you to defend yourself.
"Uhhh.." you looked up at the guys who were waiting expectedly with an awkward silence.
"Vin's right, technically." You stated, causing Vin to smirk. "It's not like I killed her."
"She just ran away from me screaming and looking for help in the middle of a road."
His smirk fell and the others looked a tad bit horrified at what could be implied. You weren't trying to prove anything, you simply didn't need to. You were just stating what happened.
"Wow..."
You just simply weren't able to comprehend what was so strange.
"You're unreal!" The other one laughed as if this situation was just oh so amusing.
"Jeez..." Mary looked away as you gave her a confused look.
Suddenly they started laughing as Vin rolled his eyes and went back to minding his own business. You had no idea why, but suddenly everything felt back to normal and conversation went as usual.
It wasn't bad being with them, even with the level of degeneracy that fell from their mouths. As long as you ignored that, they were pretty chill.
