School went more smoothly than you thought it would

School went more smoothly than you thought it would. You just stayed by Mary and some other people from your class for the rest of the day and they pretty much protected you from any onlookers.

Eventually people would forget about all of this anyway, you just needed to be patient. But it was still nice having some cover.

And you got invited to hang out with Vin and them after school, but the group had a bit of a dilemma.

Their normal hangout had been under watch by some cops thanks to rumors that kids were drinking illegally there.

They were the ones who wanted to go somewhere, so you gave them a memorable suggestion.

"How about that new place that just opened recently?" You stopped in front of them with your hands in your pockets.

They all looked at you, interested.

"You mean that place downtown?" Mary came up next to you.

"That's the karaoke place isn't it? The one with alcohol?"

You smiled.

"Yeah, trust me, it'll be worth it." You shrugged your shoulders and waited for an answer.

They looked between each other as you were already looking at your most loyal clients yet to come.

"How fast are we going to get cops on us?" Vin asked.

"Not happening. I know the owner, he's a pretty chill guy." You were the owner.

They looked at you still not very convinced.

"Plus, the first time you come with me is free drinks and snacks."

............

They were easy to manipulate, all it took was a couple of free bottles of Soju and the rest was smooth sailing.

It's amazing the extent these guys would go through to get drunk on a school night.

Some of the guys were making fools of themselves with the mic and you could hear Mary cheering them on. However, given their status in the department, they weren't half bad.

You were mostly just watching them, not really participating much to their dismay. But hey, they didn't care just as long as it meant they got free stuff.

Although you had to remind them it was only free for the first time. If they wanted to come back then they would have to pay. You were ignored.

But you were most curious about the guy sitting next to you, which to your surprise was only sipping on the plethora of alcohol.

"What are you staring at?" Vin scowled and had his arms crossed as he was leaning back in his seat.

"I didn't think you had that much self restraint." You smiled nervously as you looked ahead at the singing party.

He sucked his teeth.

"I have an audition in a few days." He explained in a mumble.

You subtly smiled at his little gesture of faith and took it as a sign of a truce.

"Really? Where?" you asked, interested.

He scoffed.

"It's not like you would know about it anyway, high level stuff." He said with a smug tone.

You laughed his cockiness off and just waved your hand.

"Yeah, sure."

He looked offended at your disbelief but ultimately ignored it anyway.

"Is it school sponsored?" You asked him curiously.

"Yeah, our group is trying out." He told you. "I'm guessing you're not coming?"

You thought for a moment before confirming his suspicion.

"Good luck though man."

You were both watching Mary singing into the mic with enthusiasm as the guys were cheering and laughing. Maybe if you looked hard enough you'd be able to see a smile on his face.

"It's nice to know you're not an asshole all the time." You suddenly said.

.....

"Fuck off..."

You started laughing as he got increasingly annoyed.

"[Y/nnnn]! Come join us!" A sweet voice called out to you. "You haven't sang one song!"

You looked up to Mary and a couple of expecting eyes, then smiled cheerfully while simultaneously jabbing a thumb in Vin's direction.

"I'll do it if this guy does." You didn't think he was up for it, but that was your mistake.

"Alright." He smirked.

You deadpanned to him.

"I'll go first, then you." He stood up and stretched with a sinister look.

He hadn't seen you actually sing since day one of class, naturally he was willing to make you suffer for it.

Everyone cheered for Vin and hyped him up as he stepped up to choose a song.

"Why don't you both just do a song together?" Mary looked between you two confused.

You and Vin froze awkwardly. He was going to regret trying to make a fool out of you.

"That sounds like a wonderful plan Mary!" You smiled gleefully. "I know just the song!"

Hell, it's not like it mattered anymore. It's not like these guys were going to remember much by the next morning.

And before Vin could even stop you, which he tried, you managed to get the song you wanted. It certainly wasn't a song that fitted a tough rapper such as himself.

"You ready?" You handed him his own mic and mimicked his once sinister face with your own.

Everyone was looking at you two. And while they wouldn't remember what happened, you could rest easy knowing you had your phone recording the whole time.

It's not like Vin knew that though.

And as you both felt equally embarrassed and the song ended, it was finally time to go home.

And seeing as how you and Vin were the only ones who didn't nearly drink themselves to kidney failure, you two were responsible for everyone else getting home.

Modern predator catchers are funny asf. Hands first, police later.

Although I'm aware of the negatives this approach has, I can't say I'm fully against it.
