Sadie gazed longingly out of the car window, her headphones hooked over her ears plugged into her Walkman, she blew a strand of her squiggly orange hair out of her face. She didn't know where she was going but her parents seemed keen enough to get rid of her for the summer holidays while they could go out all summer break while Sadie attended this camp because of her lack of responsibility and need to cause trouble.
The car came to a complete stop outside of a beautiful land of grass and wooden cabins all lined up beside a big creepy woods, Sadie rolled her eyes in disappointment. "You're sending me here?" she said.
"Yes, now get out before I drag you out by that squiggly unwashed hair of yours," Sadie's mum shouted.
Sadie, being the bratty troublemaking teen she was folded her arms across her chest and refused to get out. There was no way in hell was she going here, it looked like some abandoned camp that the kids in 'Friday the 13th attended and she had seen those movies, knowing exactly what went down. Everyone died, there were only a few final girls and the ones she wanted to be final girls never got to be final girls.
"Sadie, now," her mother shouted again.
Still, Sadie refused and her mother stepped out of the car and walked over to her daughter's seat and snatched open her door, pulling Sadie out by her orange locks.
She fell to the floor with a thud, banging her head hard and her parents driving off down the road not even bothering to give back her Walkman that remained in the car after she was dragged out. "Bastards," Sadie muttered to herself as she started walking down towards the entrance of the camp. The sign beside the entrance read 'Camp Dark wind.' "Sounds pretty sketchy to me," Sadie said walking into the camp site.
The guidance counsellors noticed her arrival, they exchanged a look knowing that this girl could be somewhat of a troublemaker because of what was said on the phone about Sadie but they greeted her warmly as Sadie just rolled her eyes.
"Welcome to 'Camp Dark Wind,' you'll be in a cabin of about ten other people, we all try to put on our smiling faces and treat everyone with respect to keep a safe and calm environment for everyone," one of the counsellors said. The other one just smiled gracefully.
Sadie just scoffed. "Yeah, right you're just here because you wanna try make a difference in the world by trying to pair up a bunch of girls and boys into groups so they socialise with others and make loving friends. Well, sorry to break it to you but you're not going to make me do any of that bullshit."
The counsellors said nothing and lead Sadie down into one of the cabins, there were about five girls and five boys. ''Everyone, this is Sadie, she will be joining us for the summer.''
Everyone looked up from what they were doing, eyeing the girl from head to toe, from her squiggly long orange hair to her striped t-shirt to her denim blue shorts and black converse trainers. The girls scoffed, even the boys did except for one person sitting at the back of the small room with his arms folded over his chest; he raised one eyebrow at her and made a ''hmm'' sound.
The counsellors left, leaving Sadie alone with these bitches; a blonde intimidating haired girl walked over towards Sadie, she glared at her with her cold dark eyes before gripping Sadie's orange hair hard and jerked her head back just slightly. ''You may have the stupid counsellors fooled but you can't fool me, I will find out what you're hiding Sadie,'' the girl exclaimed.
The boy at the back of the room just shook his head. ''Leave her alone Stella,'' he said.
The girl known as Stella let Sadie go, she rubbed her neck, and it now stung from how far her head just got tilted. Stella wandered over towards the boy sitting in the chair, the boy glared at her with his cold brown eyes. ''What are you going to do about it, hmm?'' Stella asked.
''Nothin,' I ain't starting a fight with you Stells, I just don't want you harming the new girl,'' the boy replied.
''What, you got a thing for her or something?''
The boy didn't reply, Stella headed back to her friends who had already started picking on poor Sadie for no reason. Sadie wasn't going to let these girls beat her this way, she drew her fist back and punched the girl's right in their smug little faces including Stella. The boy who sat at the back of the room, raised an eyebrow, he was impressed. Badass girl with orange hair, I like her already he thought. Stella and her friends rubbed their faces as they ran off towards the guidance counsellors' office, Stella knocked at the door and the female guidance counsellor unlocked the door, her jaw dropped when she saw Stella's face was bruised and her nose dripped with blood. "Holy god, what happened to your face?" she asked.
"The new girl Sadie punched me," Stella whined.
"Oh, my well Gary will clean up your face while I speak with Sadie," the female said.
Stella nodded and stepped inside the office, the female counsellor headed out to get Sadie from the cabin next door. It was beginning to get dark when she entered.
"Sadie, will you come with me please?" she said.
Sadie didn't say anything, she just rolled her eyes and followed the counsellor to her office. "Take a seat," she said.
Sadie sat down on a small chair behind a desk, she slumped down and crossed her arms over her chest, her eyes narrowed as she glared at the counsellor wondering what the hell she could possibly have done on her first night here.
"I heard you punched Stella and her friends."
Sadie sat there, her mouth shut, Stella and her friends deserved it. Sadie stared at the counsellor, she looked around to be in her mid-30s, her dirty blonde hair was hanging just below her shoulders and her eyes a deep blue. Sadie noticed her name tag, it read 'Nicole' in big shiny white letters.
"Well, did you?" the counsellor known as Nicole said.
"I'm not telling you shit, if I were to say anything though. I'm just going to tell you, they deserved it," Sadie finally said.
"How so? Nobody deserves to be punched."
Sadie scoffed. "Pshh, yeah right."
Nicole put her head into her hands, "look, Sadie we want you here just as much as anyone but you mustn't start fights that don't need to be started or you'll be sent home," Nicole reminded her.
Sadie rolled her eyes. "Yeah, okay. Can I go now?"
Nicole nodded. "Oh, but before you go we'll be having dinner in about half an hour, so be prepared for that."
Again, Sadie rolled her eyes and wandered back down to her cabin, it was fully dark now, the only light being the shiny cabin lights. The woods were just as creepy, Sadie despised the woods especially things that lurked within them. She shuttered at the feeling and headed back into her cabin, everyone was sat around in a circle playing truth or dare.
"Oh, Sadie come and sit down with us," the boy that defended her earlier said.
"Oh, um okay," Sadie said sitting down.
Sadie joined in the game of truth or dare, it lasted for a little bit before Nicole and the other guidance counsellor Gary entered the cabin saying dinner was being prepared.
