Chapter Seven : Run Away
The next day, Julia woke up with a pounding headache, a result of the previous night's excessive drinking. She groaned and shielded her eyes from the sunlight streaming through the window.
"Rise and shine dumbass!" Chaeryeong said crossing her arms. Julia winced at Chaeryeong's loud voice, her headache intensifying with each syllable. She muttered a string of curses under her breath before slowly sitting up in bed.
"Do you have to be so loud first thing in the morning?" she grumbled, rubbing her temples.
"How can I keep my mouth shut if you... literally kissed your ex last night." Julia's eyes widened in realization as the events of the previous night came back to her in a rush. She groaned again and buried her face in her hands, embarrassment washing over her.
"Please," she muttered, her voice muffled by her hands. "Remind me why I agreed to go to that party again?"
"No.. look at this!" Chaeryeong said showing a video. Julia reluctantly peered from behind her hands, trying to focus on Chaeryeong's phone screen. Her headache still throbbed, but her curiosity got the better of her.
"What is it?" she asked, bracing herself for whatever embarrassing footage was about to be shown.
"1.5 million views" Julia's eyes widened as Chaeryeong mentioned the number of views the video had racked up. 1.5 million was a staggering number, especially considering the embarrassing content it captured.
"Are you serious?" Julia exclaimed, a mix of disbelief and horror on her face. "1.5 million people have witnessed my drunken idiocy...?"
"I would be scared if mom saw, because that's pack your bags, back to LA you go." Julia paled at the thought of her mother seeing the video. She knew how strict and traditional her mother was, and the fact that she had been caught drunkenly kissing her ex on camera would not go over well.
"Please tell me you didn't share this with Mom," she pleaded, a hint of desperation in her voice.
Julia sighed in relief as Chaeryeong replied that she had no intention of sharing the video with their mother. She knew that the last thing she needed was for her traditional Korean mother to find out about her wild antics.
"Thank god," she said, running a hand through her disheveled hair. "I don't think my liver, or my dignity, could handle my mother's wrath right now."
Yeji, the eldest of the three sisters, entered the room and her gaze immediately fell on Julia, still curled up in bed with a bedhead.
"You look like a mess," Yeji commented, a mix of concern and annoyance in her voice. "How are you feeling?"
Julia winced as her headache flared up again, a stark reminder of the alcohol she had consumed the night before.
"Like I got hit by a truck," she grumbled, rubbing her temples. "I swear, I'm never drinking again."
"Jeeez sometimes I question who's the mature one. One got pregnant and one kissed her ex." Julia shot Chaeryeong an annoyed look, not appreciating the sarcastic remark.
"Thanks for the input, Chaeryeong," she replied dryly. "I'm well aware of my own stupidity, thank you very much."
The sound of the doorbell echoed through the house, causing the three sisters to exchange glances.
