I light the joint, watching the ember burn slowly. Softly lighting the dark sky. Inhaling the herb slowly and exhaling, a cloud of smoke comes out of my mouth. My eyes drifted to the freshly painted graffiti on the wall. (It was wall art, not normal graffiti—still vandalism, though.) I admire it slightly, throwing the spray paint in the trash can. I knew better than to carry evidence against me.
I heard some footsteps on the concrete approaching me. I stop smoking the joint and smash it with my boot. Waving the fragrant smell, attempting to dissipate it.
I saw a vampire and a wolf enforcer.
"What are you doing out so late, human? It's quite dangerous for you to be out at such hours." The vampire questioned.
"Oh, you know how it is. Doing—a little of this, a little of that. I say backing up slightly to look like I'm just getting my bag. As soon as I got to my bag right below the ladder attached to the building, I was going to climb up it. I could very easily par-core jump from building to building. I would do it. I was very fast for a human, quite agile indeed.
"By that, do you mean vandalizing?" The wolf asked me, pointing to the freshly painted wall.
"Vandalizing?" I say as I try to be innocent.
"Yes, vandalizing. I'm going to detain you until we find out if you are responsible for the recent vandalism all over the city." The vampire says to me plainly his face is hard.
"No problem; after all, I'm innocent," I said as I was picking up my bag. Jumping up and grabbing the ladder, pulling myself up with ease, I climb up quickly. The monsters below are now on to me.
"Stop!" They shout in unison.
I run, jumping from roof to roof, jumping on a fire escape, and into the alley. I didn't hear them. I wasn't out of breath, but I knew I had to be quiet or they might hear me. Humans did have a curfew, which I was also breaking. I darted down the alley quickly. Until I was roughly tackled down my face, hiring the concrete and splitting my head open. I felt blood rushing down the area.
"Ouch, get off me you big fat toad-licker!" I shout at him, angry and in pain.
"Did you just call me a toad licker?" the vampire asked me, slightly amused by his body weight-crushing me.
He grabs my arms, pinning my arms behind my back.
"Wow, man, take me on a date first, at least before you try the kinky shit," I say, trying to yank my arms out so I can escape.
He slides the backpack off with ease, easily overpowering me.
"Is this really necessary?" I ask in response to his roughness.
He cuffed me tightly with the cold metal pressed against my wrists.
"You have paint on your hands; you are a suspected vandal." He says
He thankfully doesn't leave me face down on the ground as blood runs down my face.
He simply grabs his radio.
"I got her down the alley between North and Jackson. Make sure a medic is at the jail." He says roughly:
He grabs my bag and opens it. The zipper is all I heard. I was thankful I ditched the spray paint, as that was my most punishable offense. I did have other prohibited items for humans. The prohibited items were alcohol, cigarettes, and bud.
He looks into the bag and shakes his head. "What a naughty human! These things are prohibited for your kind because they're dangerous." He says to me, zipping my bag back up.
Eventually, the werewolf and vampire I had run from earlier came to him.
"We didn't ask for you to bust her head open, Desmond." The vampire says to him:
"Well, I stopped her, didn't I? If you could have stopped her, you would have. It seems like this little human is quite fast, perhaps faster than you, Edward." The vampire that cuffed me replied back harshly.
"Listen, blood is quite falling down my face. I would appreciate it if you did the dick-measuring contest later." I say back.
The werewolf growls slightly.
"Watch your tongue, human." He says he is yanking me off the ground roughly.
"I guess you wouldn't understand my response anyway, since I've seen more intelligence from a rock," I mumbled, knowing full well they had all heard me.
He shoots a glare my way.
I see the cop cars as I'm briskly walking to them as I try to keep up with their long strides.
The vampire I now knew as Edward leaned to my face.
"I will say you smell quite delicious," he says, his fangs enlarging.
I do not react, not wanting to give him the satisfaction of making me scared.
The truth was, I wasn't.
"Well, with a nose like that, I'm surprised you didn't get a starring role in a documentary about elephants!" I say as I glare at him.
"Stupid humans," he mumbles as he opens the back door.
"Stupid? Speak for yourself; I didn't realize you were the expert in that field!" I replied only to be harshly shoved into the cop car.
These stupid motherfuckers.
I lean my head against the cold window.
The door is slammed shut as the three goons talk. I tried my luck at opening the door with no luck.
Not surprising.
Just then, the two from earlier opened their doors and climbed in, looking behind them at me.
"What's your name, human?" The vampire Edward asked me.
I sat in anger, ignoring them. They could just scan my fingers, and they'd find me. I didn't have a record, but they'd find out my name.
The werewolf smirks at me.
"Is that the sound of you running out of good comebacks? Because it's music to my ears!" The wolf says mocking me.
"With ears that big, I'm surprised you can hear my awesome comebacks over the sound of all that hot air that must be coming in!" I say, rolling my eyes in annoyance.
I was going to jail, that was for sure, but I knew I could somehow get away when the time came. So I wasn't that worried. After all, I was just a normal human girl, nothing to be concerned about.
