Night in jail

"Let's take her pictures first to update the one for her file," Jerry suggested.

"Follow me, Adelaide," Edward says, walking to the area where they take pictures of the inmates.
I sigh as I walk up to the gray wall.

He snaps the picture, and the bright light hurts my eyes.

"There we go." He says to himself, updating my picture from my file.

"It's late rest; you will have court day tomorrow after lunch." Jerry is gesturing for me to follow.

I roll my eyes at myself. Following. My stomach is loudly growling.

"Are you hungry?" Edward asks me, leaning against the deck.
"Nope," I say it plainly. I didn't trust their kind.

"Are you sure about that?" Harold asks me.

"Absolutely," I say, walking into the dark cell. A cot, blanket, and pillow are already waiting. I see the other rooms like mine and wonder if there is anyone in the other cells.

He closes the door, leaving me in almost complete darkness. I sigh.

Ignoring the cot. I sit down in the corner of the room and rest my head on the wall. Closing my eyes. My head was screaming, and sleep softly called my name in a trance.

I woke up to the door being opened.

The cold room is now noticeable.

Desmond. Aka toad licker.
"What the hell are you doing on the ground?"

Desmond asked me, holding a tray of food.

I just sat there, my head pounding and my vision blurring.

"Did you sleep there?" Desmond asked questioningly.

"Well, if the bed is normally how it is, I'm sure that's enough," I say this in no fucking mood.

He lets out a low growl that is almost undetectable to my ears.

"I brought you breakfast." He says he is holding out the tray.

I still didn't trust him or any of them. "I'm not hungry, thanks, though." I am trying to get him to leave.

"Are you sure? I can hear your stomach growling from the main office." He asked me, still holding onto the tray.

"Yep," I say, looking away from him.

"You really should eat; that sound is going to get on everyone's nerves." He says it with frowning eyebrows.

"Your unsolicited advice is noted. I'll file it under 'Things I Didn't Ask For'." I reply, waving my hand bye-bye.

He clenched his jaw and walked out, closing the door behind him.

I just rest my head against the walls. The feeling of impending doom is falling heavily on me.

I came to the realization that I had fallen asleep. When the door was opened again.

Edward is holding a tray of food this time.
"Hungry?" He asks me.

"Nope." I make sure to draw out the p sound.

He kneels, crouching on the balls of his feet, still feet away from me. He sets the tray on the ground.

He puts one hand on his knee, resting it in a way.

The other is out flat in. Stop position. His eyes flickered to blood red as he waved his hand slowly back and forth.

"You will eat this food." He says it in a strange voice.
What the hell?

"What are you doing?" I ask him, curious.

His eyes turn back to black.

"How did you do that?" He asked me.

"You can't just wave your hand around like a traffic director and expect someone to listen to you," I said, rolling my eyes.

"It should have worked." He states this to himself.
"Desmond!" He shouts.

Moments later, Desmond walks in.

"Charm her; I'm tired of listening to her stomach growl; it's unsettling," Edward says.

"Told you." He says this to me before getting into a similar position as Edward is in.

Doing the same thing, looking like absolute fools.
"You will eat this food," he says.

I pick up my hand and sarcastically move it around in the same manner.

"You will leave and take the food with you." I am annoyed.

They look at each other confused. Before leaving with the tray,

I get up and move around, warming my body up for my only possible escape. On the desk was the schedule for the courthouse. Today there was the council there that approved marriages; no marriage could happen if either of them had a mate.

They normally test everyone to be on the safe side. Primary focus on humans. They would be busy, hopefully, busy enough to slip away.

After a while, the door opens again. "Are you always like this?" Harold asked me

"Always like what?" I ask him to stop moving.

"You've been moving around for the past 4 hours; don't you get tired?" He asked me

"Nope," I say, looking at him to leave.

"Well, it's time to leave. I was just asked to take a look at your head. You really should have eaten because you did seem like you had a concussion last night." He gestured for me to follow with his head.

I walk to him. The light is much brighter.

He stares at the stitches.

"You actually did pretty good." He tells me this before looking at Edward and Desmond.

"Oh, I see you've mastered the art of stating the obvious. What's next, a lecture on gravity?" I say, rolling my eyes.

He just chuckled. "You are pretty funny." He says this to me, nodding to the two vampires from last night.

"Alright, hands behind your back so I can cuff you," Edward says

I sigh, slipping my hands behind my back. I knew I'd probably get community service for the prohibited items. So this wouldn't be too bad. Other than the possibility of being tested, I could live without it.
The cuff clicked into place.

As I follow them out the door. Vampires surprised me even though they were incredibly fast; they lacked the focus a wolf does with their animal-like senses.

Vampires often lusted for blood. So the odds were in my favor after all.

Desmond opened the door and helped me inside. And closed the door behind me. Both of them got into the car.

Buckling up and starting to drive.
The low hum of the engine fuels my fire of doom.
