As I continue painting on the wall, I see one of my friends who is part of the rebellion. Jenna was a smart woman who had been tested and had no supernatural mate, but a lot of her family members had been killed by supernaturals just like me.

"Jenna!!" I shout, dropping the paintbrush in the pan.

Her head darts in my direction. Her jaw slightly falls as though she didn't expect to see me. Or maybe she didn't like how I was covering up clear messages and destroying their property as they did ours.

She looks both ways quickly before crossing the street and scurries to me quickly.

"Adelaide!" She shouts to me.

I jump off the top of the ladder and run to her before Sebastian says, "What are you doing?" He asks me, his brows furrowed together.

"She's just my friend; please just let me see her," I say with a slight beg.

I know this might be my only chance. I didn't trust supernaturals, but if anyone could break this bond, it would be a witch. Jenna knows a couple of witches, as her house is right by theirs.

"Whatever, but she walks up to you." He says that by crossing his arms over his chest, the muscles of his arms are more defined.

Jenna pulls me into a firm hug. "You're the Alpha King Hybrids mate!" She whispers and shouts in my ear.

I sigh, "Unfortunately, yes, you have to see if there is a way to break this bond. Talk to the witches until one can help. I'll pay them when I'm free."

"Witches?! We hate witches!" Jenna shouts

"LISTEN! I hiss. There's no other way to break the bond that I know of. Go to the library too; there has to be something. Please, I'm begging you." I plead

"What are you two whispering about if you're talking do so where I can hear you. You are not even supposed to be talking to anyone right now; you are supposed to be covering up the evidence of the rebellion." He says, looking at the spray paint on the walls.

I raised an eyebrow, already annoyed. "Nothing in particular, besides MATE If my whispering is too quiet for you, maybe you should invest in some better hearing. After all, you are a supernatural, right?" I ask him annoyed.

He glares at me His eyes shift to red, and I still have not quite understood what it meant yet.

His eyes narrowed, clearly not buying it. "Friend, huh? She not from your little rebellion?" He asked me, arching his brown, mirroring my own.

I crossed my arms, my voice dripping with sarcasm. "Oh, yeah. We braid each other's hair and have slumber parties where we talk about boys. You should join next time."

His jaw clenched, clearly irritated by my tone, but he didn't back down. "Do you always have to be so sarcastic and with a sharp tongue? Stop hugging and whispering."

I rolled my eyes dramatically, giving him a look like he had just said the stupidest thing I'd ever heard. "Are you *kidding* me right now? It's a hug. She's just a friend. Not like I'm sharing rebel secrets over lattes."

His gaze flickered, and for a second, I thought I saw a spark of amusement behind his otherwise cold exterior. "It's not that simple."

"Oh, but it is," I said, stepping closer, and putting on my best innocent face. "We're just talking. You guys think you can control every little interaction, huh? That's cute."

He leaned in slightly, lowering his voice. "I don't know what you're trying to do, Adelaide. However, you're not as sneaky as you think."

I tilted my head and smirked. "Oh, I'm not trying to be sneaky. I just don't care about what you say. But thanks for the concern." I gave him a little mock salute, my eyes twinkling with mischief.

He stepped back, his expression unreadable for a moment, and then he sighed like he had decided to give in. "Fine. Talk to your friend. But don't think I won't be watching."

I waved him off dismissively. "Yeah, yeah, you do that. You must have a really exciting life if watching me is at the top of your list. Do you like to watch paint drying too?"

As he stalked away, I couldn't help but smile to myself. He thought he was so clever, trying to intimidate me. Little did he know, I was already two steps ahead.

We chatted a bit longer, making sure it all seemed casual. But as we spoke, I began planting the seed for my real plan.

"You know all the rebel attacks go to them until you find me. Then tell me what I need to do." I said hugging her tightly one last time.

My life depends on her.

"Okay. Please be safe. Keep your tongue under control before it gets you into trouble." She suggested me.

She pulled away. "I'm going to get started."

I watch her walk away with my ticket to freedom.

"The walls aren't going to paint themselves." He says, suddenly breaking my thoughts.

"And here I thought you were all about taking initiative—guess that only applies to talking!" I say, rolling my eyes and continuing to paint.

He was insufferable.

"I will say I do find your comments quite amusing; sometimes it makes me want to put your mouth to other uses." He says with a chuckle.
"Don't worry, we will only be intimate whenever you are ready for it. That doesn't mean I can think about it."

"I'd say I'm already using my mouth for a variety of purposes, but thanks for the unsolicited words; I'll keep that in mind next time I need a laugh," I say not looking at him as I finish covering up the last bit of the graffiti.

I wipe the sweat from my brow.

"Time to head home, you stink." He says helping me clean.

I look around frantically.

He furrowed his brows, his eyes shifting to yellow as he looked around. "What is it?" He asked, turning back to me.

"Oh, sorry, I was just looking for your ship," I say plainly not in the mood for him.

"My ship? What are you talking about?"He asks, reaching his hand out to touch my forehead.

His cold hands touch my forehead, tingles radiating from the area.

"Yeah, I never would have guessed! You're Captain Obvious. You're like a walking Wikipedia page but without all the interesting facts." I say before attempting to smack his hand away before he catches it.

"I wasn't trying to be rude. You just smell different right now than I'm used to." He tells me

"Well, I didn't realize we had a detective in the room. What's your next big revelation—water is wet? But, no worries, but just like opinions, I can choose to ignore what I didn't ask for."
