Catch Flights Not Feelings

Eleven

The first couple days at camp was amazing, everyone was training and we were all training hard. Me and Leah would call on a night for me and a morning for her. I had a massive smile on my face all the time that the girls caught onto. I practically threatened Steph, Caitlin, Kyra and Sam to not say anything.

Today we could explore Australia, even though we all played for Australia barely any of us actually lived here anymore. Most of us in England a couple in France or Spain and some in the NWSL. I walk with Alanna Kennedy as we all walk towards the beach she says "so who are you in love with?"

I laugh and say "lani, what are you talking about?"

"Oh come on it's written all over you someone has your heart who is it?" She asks

"It's not official Alanna so I can't say anything I'm sorry" I say

She laughs and we talk about how camp has been and our clubs. We also talk about how I'll be going up against Alanna soon because we play Man City pretty soon. We make it to the beach and I lie next to Ellie on a towel. "I need to tell you something" she whispers. "Okay" I say
"Not here though, come on" she says dragging my hand and dragging us both into the sea.

"Daan has asked me to marry her" Ellie says excitedly
"What?" I ask immediately covering my mouth with my hands.
"Where's the ring?" I ask
"It's back at the hotel but- I'm so excited!" She says
I smile and say "I'm so happy for you el"
"Me too" she says smiling and hugs me.
We make our way back to the beach.

The rest of the day we all just sunbathed leaving the beach fir a brief hour to get some food and then back to sunbathing, the odd swim in the sea after Kyra practically forced me and then nearly drowned me. We all walk back to camp and that's when I realise how sunburnt I was. I took off my sunglasses and Kyra immediately laughs. I had a massive tan round my eyes. But not just round my eyes it had the shape of the sunglasses. I immediately put them back on and me and Kyra walk to the closest shop where I buy some fake tan.

When we get back to the hotel I put on the fake tan. After an hour we go downstairs with the glasses still glued to my face we eat some food. After a bit I make my way to my room and Kyra goes to hers. I talk to Leah for a bit before going to sleep. The next morning I take my sunglasses off and scream. I start crying, "oh no" I say as I slouch onto the bathroom floor.
I hear rapid knocking at my door but I stay put. I lock the bathroom door, I hear the hotel door being opened. I hear all the girls screaming my name. I felt like shit so I stay quiet, "Alanna check the bathroom!" I hear Caitlin say
"It's locked!" Alanna says
"Guys!" I hear Kyra say
"I think I know what's happened" Kyra says
"What?" They all say urgently
"I can't say I just- let me see if I can get in" she says
She knocks on the door "Inds let me talk to you" her voice echoes
I stay silent.
"Indie please tell me your okay at least" she says
Nothing
"Indiana! Please just say anything!" She begs
"Can I come in?" She tries

Kyra pov

"Indie, please I'm begging you just open the door" I beg
Nothing, just felt as trepidation crawled through my veins. "Indiana" Caitlin says coming next to me. "Tell her Leah's on the phone" Caitlin whispers in my ear.
"No, we can't blackmail her" I whisper back
"If she doesn't answer to that then we're fucked" Caitlin whispers
I give in. "Inds Leah's on the phone" I say. Nothing.

My anxiety and worry kicks in. "Cait move out the way!" I say
She quickly does. All the girls move. My foot kicks the door, a lot. Until a small tear occurs in the wood. I peep my head through the wood and I see her sat on the floor looking lifeless. "Shit!" I say and make my way through tearing the wood as I go inside,

I get to her and I shout "stay back and someone get a medic!"
"Indiana!" I scream and tug her top trying to shake her awake.
Steph kicks the door down more and gets the girls to go downstairs. Steph walks in and tries to calm me down.
