Adam & Payten

As the Fourth of July approached, Payten spent her days planning her annual barbecue. She decided that even if Alek wasn't here, she still wanted to host it and have it be a way to honor him as well.

She had Mariella make Fourth of July themed cookies, Juliet was bringing some of her famous chip and vegetable dip, Adam said he'd pay for the food and Payten could get the decorations.

She told Althea and Rhett that they could bring a dessert or drinks if they'd like, to which Althea said she'd make a dessert and "Rhett" (even though we all know it's actually Althea) would bring a case of pop.

Adam and Payten went to many stores, filling her car with packages of streamers, table cloths, and other Fourth of July themed items, like plates and napkins.

Adam wanted to question why Payten was going this far for the Fourth of July, but the baby had been causing Payten problems with her emotions and he didn't want her to start crying in the middle of Target.

Payten walked down different aisles, stopping for a few seconds to look at something before walking away, and Adam followed her around with the cart.

Peyton turned on her heel and looked at Adam with a sweet smile.

"You wanna go to the baby aisle and look at the clothes?" Payten asked in her sweetest voice, knowing Adam wouldn't be able to resist.

"Come on, let's go." He answered, flashing her a genuine smile and they walked off towards the baby aisles.

"Payten can I ask you something?" Adam tapped his thumbs on the steering wheel as they waited for the light to turn green. He looked over at her quickly and then back to the road.

"Yeah Adam, what's up?" Payten shifted in her seat, turning to look at him.

"Can I ask why you're going this big for just the Fourth of July?" Adam asked, he kept his eyes on the roads until he turned down a side street to go to a party supplies store.
