Chapter 24
(Amara POV) -Enchancia-
- one week later -
I held onto him tightly brushing my fingers along the metal of his armor, "I wish you didn't have to go." I felt his arms hold me tighter, "Hey I will be back soon enough and you can always write to me." He pulled me in slightly closer and whispered, "And you can always see me, even if I can't see you." I nodded my head on his shoulder. "I know it is only school and I shouldn't be this freaked out, but promise me you are going to stay safe." He leaned back and smiled at me, "Hey it's me." I still gave him a look, "I promise." I nodded my head.
He then walked over to Ella who was standing next to us. He knelt down and smirked as she pouted, "Hey, what's wrong?" She looked up at him, "I don't want you to go." He nodded his head, "I know, but I will be home before you know it and besides someone needs to look after Amara for me while I'm gone." He looked up at me and gave me a look and I gave him a nod letting him know I knew what he meant.
He focused on Ella again, "Can't you just wait until Dad comes home?" He sighed, "You know I can't, but Dad is going to be home soon." Ella looked down at the ground and I heard myself talking before I could think, "Ella would you like to have a girls night with me?" Ella's head snapped towards me, "Really?" I smiled, "Yeah, we can both get ready before we start our schools on Monday." She nodded her head, "Well go ask your Mom?"
Ella ran inside and Andrew looked at me again, "Thank you." I smiled, "Of course. You know I would do anything for Ella." He smirked, "Just Ella?" I rolled my eyes as he came closer again, "Andrew I can't say goodbye to you again if you expect me to actually let you go." He shrugged, "Then lets not say goodbye, lets refer to it as 'see you later.'" He leaned in closer and placed a kiss on my lips. I held onto him as we deepened the kiss.
I kept my eyes closed as I leaned my forehead against his, "Now how do you expect me to watch you leave." I could hear the smile behind his words, "Keep your eyes closed and count to ten. When you open your eyes, I will be gone. That way you don't have to see me leave." I nodded my head and felt as he took a step back. I counted to ten and when I opened my eyes true to his word he was gone.I brought my hand to my lip and smiled. "See you later," I wistfully whispered.
(Andrew POV) -Chivalry Hall-
- two month later
I walked into the barracks and over to my bed. That was something that I really liked about Chivalry Hall, it didn't matter what our background was we all stayed in the men's barracks and the women stayed in the women's barracks. I saw two envelopes on my bed.I picked up the first one and saw that it was from Ella and looked over at the other one and saw that it was from Amara. They had each sent me a letter a week since I left. I opened Ella's first:
Andrew,
First and foremost: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
I almost laughed as I imagined her screaming that at the top of her lungs when we were kids.
I hope that you are able to come home soon. I miss you. Dad got sent out for another mission, again. He promised that this one was only going to be for a day or two but still Mom has been spending every night sitting on the balcony waiting for him to come home. I know I ask this every time but, if you can ever come home, even for a day, I would really like to see you again.
Anyway I have been spending all my time at school with Emma and Mia. Mia is still not talking, and at this point I don't think she ever will again.
Ella continued to go into everything old and new that was going on in her life and signed her name in a big script signature with her "L"s looking like "e"s. I smiled again and put it with the other letters she sent me. I would write her again later. I then turned to Amara's letter and opened it slowly.
