Chapter 35
-two weeks ago-
(Amara POV) -unknown-
I leaned against the back of the bed frame as I sat myself up. I heard the door open and turned to see two men who I didn't recognize came in, "You are awake Princess." They came closer to me and I shuffled further back into myself. One of them threw a plain white dress and long blue sweater at me, "Change." His deep voice bellowed. I wrapped my arms around my legs. "We will be back soon." They turned towards the door and left me alone. My body was still sore but, I quickly threw the dress over what I had been wearing taking it off underneath and quickly wrapped myself in the sweater. They both left me alone in the room. I had refused to say anything or give them any indication of what I was thinking. I held the sweater closed with my hands and kept focusing on a random point on the wall. I redid my hair into a braid and felt stiff as I was constantly reminded that I no longer had my veil. The one I had been wearing when I was taken was the first one that my Mom taught me to embroider. I wanted to be back at home with them. I tried to recreate that feeling of being in their arms, feeling safe and warm and loved. I felt tears begin to fall and I rolled to my side, away from the door, as I laid down on the bed.

(Amara POV) -Tangu
"Mommy how come your veils are so pretty?" She smiled down at me. "Well when I was around your age I was really interested in fashion and design and I talked to my sister about it and our Mom taught her how to embroider so she taught me." "Can you teach me? I want to make a pretty veil too." She laughed, "Of course. Let's go to my studio and we can get started."
A few moments later... "I can't do it Mommy," I said lifting up the mess I had made as I tried to get the simple flower pattern. She shook her head, "Honey, it takes time." "No, I can't do it. I am not good at it. Yours are perfect and I will never be as good as you are at it." She sighed and lifted me onto her lap. She leaned over to a box on the floor and took out a bunch of fabric. She then showed me each one had a mistake, "Amara, it took me a long time to figure this out but it is ok not to be perfect all of the time. Some things take time to learn and it isn't about how good you are when you start but about how far you come." She kissed the top of my head before leaving the room. I picked up the tulle again and looked over my mistake. I then looked at my Mom's basket and saw something that she had embroidered. I began working over the mistake. I made a few more as I continued trying to copy the pattern but it began to look better still not perfect.
I went into the throne room and showed Mommy. She began to hold it up and look everything, "You did a great job Amara." I smiled and she looked over at me and smiled, "Want to try it on?" I nodded my head and she helped me to fix it and put it on. I twirled around and we both laughed. That was when Dad came in and I ran over to him, "Daddy." He lifted me up, "Hi Sweetheart. What are you wearing?" He said holding some of the fabric from my veil in his hand. "I made it, do you like it?" I looked up at him wide-eyed, "I love it. I think that your Mommy might have some competition in the future." I hugged him tighter and Mom came over and hugged me too.
(Amara POV) -unknown-
I don't know when but I drifted to sleep. I stayed still for a long time never turning to face the door or see who was coming in and out. Suddenly I felt a hand touch my shoulder and I rolled off the bed to the other side as I looked up. I saw the smaller of the two men. "The boss wants to see you, Come with me." He extended his arm to help me up but I refused to take it. I pulled myself up and held the sweater closed as I was brought out of the room.
Outside there was a bunch of people standing around looking at me. The smaller man, who still towered over me, grabbed my arm and yanked me forward. I looked down at my feet as I was brought into another room. It was completely dark and if the other man wasn't holding onto my arm I would be completely lost. I heard a voice, "Princess Amara, Welcome. I trust that you are finding your accommodations adequate." I didn't say anything. "Well I suppose you are wondering why you are here?" I still didn't say anything. "We have a proposition for you. If you agree to this, you can go home immediately." The room was quiet and I softly spoke, "What exactly is the deal?" "If you agree to marry a suitor of our selection, " "No," I quickly interrupted not listening to it anymore, "I won't." The voice just said, "Take her back to the room. Let's see if she becomes more amiable with time." I was roughly lifted out of the room and thrown back into the room I was in before. I could hear the door close behind me and I looked around before crawling back into a ball.
