Chapter 36:
(Amara POV) -Tangu-
All eyes were on me when the invitation arrived. I thought I had a few more days but, I guess not. I had to start the arrangements on my end and hope everything would work out. In their minds and their kingdom I already belonged to this prince but, in Tangu for a royal wedding it had to be done on our soil. I breathed in the air on the balcony as I closed my eyes. I was still trapped and I was still stuck and I hated it. I heard someone come outside but I didn't bother to look at who. I wasn't planning on talking about anything so it didn't really matter who it was.
"Amara what happened?" I turned and saw Ella looking up at me. Her eyes were wide and after what happened at the Holiday Party whatever the issue was had clearly be resolved. She came closer to me searching for some type of response and I felt my eyes gloss over. She came closer to me and wrapped her arms around my waist. I stood still for a moment until she squeezed me tighter. That was when I fell apart. I wrapped my arms around her and we sat down as I began to cry.
(Andrew POV)
I went looking for Ella when I saw the balcony doors open, I peaked over and saw Ella with her arms around Amara as Amara was crying. I went to take a step forward when Ella looked up at me. She shook her head and gestured down to Amara. "Can you tell me what happened?" Amara shook her head into Ella's shoulder. "Does it have something to do with the wedding everyone is talking about?" Amara nodded her head into the shoulder. "You don't want to get married, right?" She nodded her head again. "Then why are you going through with it?" I heard my voice speak as I stepped out. Amara looked over at me and Ella was shaking her head.
Amara's eyes were wide and red still filled with tears as she pulled herself further back. Ella tried to grab Amara's hand but she pulled it back and stood up. "Amara..." I started but she quickly scrambled to her feet and walked away. I tried to reach out to touch her but she shuddered into herself and ran down the hall. Ella dusted herself off and came over to me, "Andrew you can't rush it." "Rush what, she is getting married in a few days how much longer can we wait." "Well if we keep ambushing her she is never going to open up," Ella said. "And if she doesn't talk to us, we can't stop this." We were silent for a while as neither of us moved. I wasn't sure what the right thing was and Ella didn't seem too sure either. The truth was we were both right and those heavy truths hung in the air. I looked down the hallway, "I'm going to look for her." "Andrew..." Ella started but I was already making my way down the hallways.
The halls of this palace were tricky but I spent enough time here to know my way around. I saw a door that was left open and remembered it was the library. I went inside and Amara was sitting in the windowsill looking at a closed book that was in front of her. She didn't react when I came in even though I made sure she could hear me. I came closer to her. Her white gown was shapeless and her veil was not ordained at all. She just was not herself. I picked up the book in front of her Krygastonia: An Ancient Kingdom of Ancient Tradition. "Amara?" She just got up and walked away. I opened the book and a note fell out:
Read Me.
I looked around the room and no one was here. I held the book tightly under my arm and went into a room that not many people went to. I lit a small lamp and opened the book to the table of contents and it only had chapter numbers and the pages without any description on what they were about. There were two circles around two chapters and a note telling me to destroy the page. I ripped the page out and let it burn from the flame of the lamp before flipping it open.
