Chapter 27:

(Amara POV) -Everrealm Academy-

- 7 weeks later -

I walked through the halls with Della after finishing my classes for the day. We were sitting on a bench waiting for our carriages to arrive. My eyes began to close, "I hope I am not boring you too much." "No, no Della. Sorry I haven't gotten much sleep recently," I said. Rubbing my hands over my face. "Amara, I mean this as nicely as possible. You look terrible. Don't you think you need to take a break?" I shook my head, "No, I can't. If I slow down I will lose the progress I made this year will be for nothing." It was true, but it wasn't the only reason why I refused to stop.

She gave me a look, "Have you heard from..." she started but as soon as she saw my expression she stopped, "Oh." "I got a few letters, when he first left but I haven't heard from him since. I don't know, I think that he might be mad at me," I said. "Why would he be mad at you?" Della asked tilting her head to the side.

"We got into a... I wouldn't say fight but, a disagreement about my assistant Malcolm. Andrew says he doesn't trust him and that he is acting a certain way, I told him I think it might just be a misunderstanding. I don't know. I thought that we were fine and he even asked me to meet him before he left. I couldn't make it and like I said a few letters at first but nothing since." "Well do you believe Andrew?" Della asked. "Of course I believe him. I just don't know if..." Della looked at her lap, "I don't think he is mad at you." "What makes you say that?" I asked. She just shook her head, "I just don't think he is mad at you."

I looked at her again and it looked like she had something else to say but, we were soon interrupted, "Della, Mom and Dad wanted us to help Lorelai tonight with her...Oh hi Princess Amara." I turned and saw Aidan who had approached with some of his friends, "Prince Aidan." He laughed, "So how is Andrew doing?" Della slapped his arm, "What? I haven't heard from him in a while and he is our cousin and they are courting." He said gesturing at me. "I-I haven't heard from him in a while either."

"Oh," Aidan said looking down at his shoes, "well I mean they do work them really hard at Chivalry Hall, I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't have a free moment to write or if he got hurt or something." "What?" I whispered. Della slapped him, "Aidan." "What I mean they train with swords and other weapons and they are training to defend kingdoms so they are bound to get hurt, I mean remember the stories Dad would tell us about Uncle James." Della hit him again, "Seriously he is bound to get a scrape at least maybe he is hurt even more."

"What do you mean hurt even more?" I asked looking wide-eyed at him. "No, no Amara..." He started back-tracking but my mind was already spiraling, "Did he get hurt sparing or in weapon training. Maybe he got hurt on one of their training things and is now lost. What if he is lost and hurt and alone and none of us noticed for over a month now." Della shot a look at Aidan, "I am going to leave now and I am sorry and I am sure I am wrong and Della I'm going to need you to fix this." He turned and ran off.

Della grabbed both my shoulders and forced me to face her, "Amara, breath." I took a long breath. "I am sure that if something happened to Andrew they would have told his family and they would have told you. Not to mention that all of us would have heard something by now." I nodded my head. That did make sense. "Yeah, you're right," I said nodding my head.

Della looked me over, "How about you come home with me today. We will visit my Aunt and Uncle and you can find out what is going on." I smiled, "I wish I could but I have a charity thing tonight. They are opening a new shelter and I have to be there." She nodded her head, "Well I can go out there and go out to your kingdom tonight and tell you what I found out." I held her hand, "This is why you are my best friend." She laughed and saw Aidan waving for her to come to her carriage, "I have to go. See you later." "Bye." I watched as their carriage took off. "He is fine. Everything is fine. He is fine. Everything is fine."

I repeated this mantra the entire way home, but I still didn't feel any better. I went into the castle and Malcolm was waiting for me, "Any letters for me?" "None today, although you do still have to respond to that Ball invitation from yesterday." I nodded my head, "Yes. Thank you. I will be in my chamber." I said making my way to the stairs, "Wait, don't forget you have 2 hours before you have to be at the new shelter." I nodded my head, "Two hours." I went up to my room and then realized that I had two hours. I made my way out of the castle and to the village. Hit the stones on the wall and opened the passageway to the Well and made my way to the Crystal Ball. I placed my hand on the Ball and closed my eyes, "Andrew Caleb Winslow of Enchancia." I opened my eyes and saw him in the middle of training with the other students of Chivalry Hall, "Thank you. Thank you. Thank you." I breathed out.

I suddenly understood why Aunt Clio always would wait for Uncle James to come home. This feeling was terrifying. As the relief settled in I realized that he was perfectly fine and yet he hadn't written me back in over 5 weeks. Was he really that mad at me? Why was he making such a big deal about my assistant? None of this was making sense but, my head just continually felt like it was spinning. I had to go to my charity thing. I had to get myself up and there but my head was pounding.

I muddled my way through the ceremony, the picture of perfection to everyone. I went back to the castle and saw that Della was there waiting for me. "Amara, what is wrong?" I had a smile on my face, "What do you mean?" She looked around and saw that there was still people around and nodded her head, "Can we go to your suite?" I nodded my head and we made our way there. When we opened the door I went over to my bed.

"I talked with Aunt Clio and Uncle James. They haven't heard about anything happening to Andrew and they believe that everything was fine." I nodded my head, "Amara, that means that he is fine." I nodded my head again. "Amara say something" she said. "Andrew is ok," I said quietly. I turned to face her, "Andrew is ok and he still hasn't written me back." "No, you are not going to start spiraling again," Della said coming over to the bed.

"Della, do you think that he wants to stop courting me?" She shook her head, "Are you kidding me he is completely obsessed with you since we were kids." I took a breath as I paced back and forth in the room. I went over to my desk, "What are you doing?" "I am going to write Andrew," I said with a cracking smile, "and I am going to ask that we can talk, because I can't do this if this is how we are going to act. I care about him so much and I can handle the distance, I can handle the separation, but I can't handle the radio silence." She nodded her head, "Alright, just don't threaten him in the letter." I nodded my head and took a breath as I wrote out the letter.

Dear Andrew,

I know that this is probably my hundredth letter in the last couple of weeks and I am sorry if it feels like I am smothering you or something, but I miss you. I really wish you would write me back because I have already reread all of your previous letters more times than I can count. I have seen your family at a couple of different functions. Ella has been seen dancing again and your Dad has been seen cutting in each time.

I am going to switch gears for a moment. I know that you cannot control when you come home and I know that you already made a request when you came here two months ago but, with the holidays coming up I know that you are more likely to be home. Can you please see me soon? I need to talk to you. There are some things that we have to discuss. I am not trying to scare you or anything but, we just need to talk.

Love,
Amara

Della and I talked for a little while longer and then I escorted her out. I waved as I watched her carriage take off. I then went to find Malcolm. I found him in the ballroom, "Malcolm have you sent out my correspondence yet?" "No was going to after finalizing the schedule." I nodded my head, "Send this out with it will you?" "Of course Princess." He said taking the note. I continued rubbing my hands and let out an exhale. I would talk to Andrew soon and we would figure everything out. We had to.
